“We spent 3 nights in this wonderful cute cabin. It's perfectly located to visit redwood national park. The bed and pillows are very comfortable. The cabin itself cozy and cute. We used the little kitchenette every morning to make a good cup of coffee and breakfast. Trinidad has some beautiful spots to watch the sunset. There's a little grocery store in town that has everything you need.”

“Our stay at Turtle Rocks Oceanfront Inn was wonderful. The views of the ocean are incredible. From the bed, we could see waves crashing on rocks near the shore. The sound of the waves was magical. We could hear sea lions singing in the morning if the door was open.
We loved the room. There are all the amenities we needed, and I was especially impressed with the bed - very high quality mattress that was clearly new and had solid support under the pillow top, with wonderfully soft high-end sheets. The sound insulation was also excellent - I was not surprised to learn that there are double-walls explaining this.
The innkeeper, Roger, was so friendly and helpful. He made a lovely breakfast every morning and told us about all the local attractions that fit our interests - hiking and dining in our case - giving us tips on how to get the most out of the places we visited. There is a paper itinerary in every room as well, which tells about all the local attractions and tailors them to how much time a visitor has in the area.
There are other details we loved as well. The garden was beautiful. There are nice treats and coffee and tea in the common area every afternoon. The community refrigerator has plenty of room and is stocked with nonalcoholic beverages. There are powerful binoculars in the common room for looking out at the ocean. There are nice magazines, books, and local maps there as well. The assistant who gave us the initial tour was very nice and helpful. Security is good - they ask us to lock the front door to the inn whenever coming or going. The housekeeper also does good work, and I was happy to find out from conversation with Roger that she is paid a good living wage.
While I went here for a romantic getaway, and it was perfect for that, as a mother I also noticed how it would be good for families with children - I noticed details like there being hot chocolate with marshmallows available at tea time, or again the double walls between rooms that allow kids to be their playful selves.
We can’t wait to return to Turtle Rocks Oceanfront Inn again. <3”
“We stayed 3 nights at Trinidad Bay while doing daily excursions to the Redwood National Park. It was a literal breath of fresh air. Situated right on the bay and steps from the ocean, there was always a seascape to look at and a breeze to cool you. Tyler, the Innkeeper, was a fabulous host, and extraordinarily hard worker (flipping the rooms, making the breakfast etc) and helpful with tips on what to see and where to go. We stayed in the Redwoods room and loved it as we had window access that featured both the bay and ocean views and the breezes that accompanied both. The bed was comfy and the sheets were great quality which isn’t always the case at small inns. The bathroom is not luxe but it serves every purpose you might need. The breakfasts were a great start to our days and kept us full during our hikes. Would 💯 recommend a stay.”

“Found this little gem of a place while passing through this area heading home back to Canada. The whole space has such a great vibe and the people who own this motel were genuine and caring. The friendly dog Coconut welcomed us upon arrival and the chickens that roam the area were a delight to see...being animal lovers ourselves. The bed was comfy and everything was very clean. At the end of our stay the very sweet owner shared some perfect advice.... "drive slowly and breath deeply"...thank you for that!!Nearby activities: Beaches nearby.Safety: Quiet street and small size of the motel limits the amount of people who stay there.”

“This is a great location surrounded by Redwoods. They even have thier own trail. Staff was friendly and room had more than I expected. The only down side was the spotty wifi and low volume on TV.”
“This is my favorite hotel stay, ever. When I made the reservation, the first thing they asked was if we had any dietary needs. I have Celiac, and they said they’d have good options.
A week later when we arrived, not only was there a gluten free charcuterie plate prepared for us, but every breakfast we had was full of the most delightful homemade gluten free food. Pancakes, French toast, fruit crumbles.
The food was amazing, as was the service. There’s even a s’mores basket and they light the fire pit every night. This was our first b&b experience and we are sold. But I think the Lost Whale has set the bar incredibly high!
The VIEW is unreal. We wanted to move in permanently. You can sit with your wine and binoculars and watch the hundreds of sea lions right across the water on the rocks.
The fog rolls in all around you while you relax on the lawn, and the quiet is so restorative.
We stayed in the smallest room, Agate, and it was great. The two rooms downstairs are great for couples.
We will go out of our way again in the future (like several states away) specifically so we can stay here again. You’ll feel like family!”
