We love this place!! Leonard and his team are amazing. The Mai Tais will change you life - a million times better than Billy's!! Delicious food, great vibes, it's a tropical vacation in the heart of The District!!

We went this past weekend. Service is good, but did take them a while to take our order, we had thought they had forgotten us. But when we finally ordered and got our food and drinks it did not disappoint! Pina colada was not too sweet (which I love) and the appetizers we got were really good. My boyfriend was not sure what beer to get and they gave him small testers(one of them seen on the picture). We forgot the name of it but we were told it was brewed in Germany in a cave.
Covid: everything is outdoors since OC is back to outdoor dining and having a curfew. When we were being seated they actually wiped the table down in front of us and everyone had a mask on. I would say it's a safe place.

I love this place! Super fun vibe, the bar is totally classic tiki, you could stare at the walls for hours and still not discover all the fun memorabilia! The staff is amazing, attentive, friendly and know their stuff! I learn so much each time I go. The drinks are fantastic and the food is amazing! I cant rave enough about this space! Definetly check it out! The space is small but the crowd is super fun!

Fun, frolicsome, and filled with awful karaoke singers. This is a STOWAWAY bar that doesn't take itself seriously unless it's time to throw down with some cocktail spectacle (specktail? Cocktacle?) like the toasted marshmallow. A bit chaotic, but fun is the watchword.

Hands down the best low key friendly environment I've experienced in a long time. Protip: Get the cococano!

I LOVE STOWAWAY! Pre-COVID, you would find me here multiple times a week. It really is like a friendly neighborhood bar where you get to know the bartenders and other patrons. I love all things tiki and once I discovered Stowaway, other tiki bars have not been the same. They have an extensive menu with unique drinks - my all time favorite is Black Sands and their homemade spicy pickle back! If you're feeling something else that is not on the menu, the bartenders are all great and can whip up something special for you. I love Stowaway so much that I rented it out to celebrate my birthday this past year...and they made it so memorable and my friends still talk about how fun it was!
Aside from their great drinks, they also have really good food - my favorite is the spam masubi that is lightly fried (drooool) and the loco moco!
It's a bit small inside, but it just makes the ambiance more intimate :) They have a patio area outside as well! They're located right across from RA Sushi, or you can enter through the Union Marketplace (near the restrooms).

Super cute tiki bar! Came here on a Friday night with a friend and got seated right away. They have indoor and outdoor seating, but it is limited. The customer service was excellent and the food and drinks were quick and amazing. Our server had great recommendations and was very attentive to us. For food we ordered the stowaway fries and coconut shrimp. As for the drinks, we tried the holy grail, black sands, painkiller, zombie, and port light. I would say the black sands was my favorite!
I do recommend coming here a bit early then the time you want to be seated. The place quickly filled up and there can be a waitlist. We are very pleased with this place, and will need to come back here and try everything else on the menu!

This place is AWESOME!
I love going to tiki bars - it's my thing - and since covid has closed everything down, I have not had my tiki bar fix in so so long. We heard this place was open for business and we'd never been (it's kind of far for us) so we decided to give it a try.
Brief side note - I am NOT a snobby tiki lover. I'm not haha I love all tiki bars. But I have noticed that there are some bars out there claiming to be tiki and you just don't get that tiki vibe you're searching for and it's disappointing. When you go to a tiki bar and they don't know how to make classic tiki drinks...yeah.
But Stowaway was awesome! We walked up a little after they opened and got a seat at the bar. The ambience was so great and we immediately got some drinks and food. Drinks were priced as you would expect for a tiki bar - actually some were even lower then I've grown used to haha. They were super tasty and strong and I was able to get two of my fave drinks - a zombie and a Hurricane, drinks that I haven't had in so long! Food was SUPER delicious.
But honestly what sold this place was the ambience and customer service. Going to a tiki bar is supposed to be fun, relaxing and like you're hanging out with people you've known forever and that's exactly what it was. The bartenders - I feel so bad that I didn't catch their name but one I believe was Bryan? - were so nice, so cool, welcoming and friendly. We ended up hanging out for a bit, had 3 drinks each and some food and had an absolute blast. I most definitely will return!

My favorite watering hole right now in the Tustin District. This little bar is cozy, the staff remember you, and the food is delicious. All time favorites are: coconut shrimp, the loco moco, painkiller! New time favorite is the aguachile shrimp. Absolutely delicious. They have ample outdoor patio seating and socially distanced indoor seating. Come on in for some delicious cocktails and food!

Love this place!!! Stowaway fries are to die for and the Frog Grog is amazing! Inside has some great decor too!

Stowaway is the best and we miss it so much Hard to beat for date night o. a budget, or drinks with friends. Happy hour is incredible at $5 for most items. Drinks are always amazing with an equally good beer list for my IPA loving boo thang. Rum braised slider is the best thing on their menu imo - other sliders are hit or miss for me in terms of flavor balance. It is teeny so sometimes tables or getting the staffs attention is tough, but it's worth it!

Real Quick - Hate tiki? No you don't, you can't at the Stowaway! Tiki without tacky - Leonard and Dominic have found a the closest way to go on a quick vacation you're gonna get. Fun drinks that are tasty without the sugar rush and classy appetizers help smooth out your beach vibes. Unfortunately, if you want to dip you feet in the sand, you gotta bring your own but there is a fountain right outside.Drink Rec - Any. Serious.Food Rec - Coconut shrimp, which I typically hate but I always get when I'm at the Stowaway.

I love this place. They have great people, great drinks, and great food. The atmosphere is very on point. I am a fan of their inventive sauces and five spice wings. I recommend those and the Stowaway fries. They have a large tiki drink menu and you will not be disappointed in any thing you order. If you go there more than once you will see they have a large following of locals, of which you can talk to any. Super friendly locals, who knew that was a thing?

@thehainanchickenandrice Came to the pop-up restaurant for lunch and I'm absolutely floored. Beats driving to San Gabriel, they're going to have to drive here for the juiciest white meat farmed fresh chicken. The ginger sauce gave me all the feels. I almost started drinking it. I asked for a side of it to drench the rice. It was amazing!

Gorgeous ambiance, terrible drink list. I hate to say that it's too hipster and crafty for my taste. I wasn't able to get a glass of Jameson, I could only order from their cocktail list. And I'm not a big mixed cocktail drinker, so I was VERY disappointed. I will say that their food was pretty good. I came for a work mixer and their staff is very attentive.

Absolutely love this place! It's a small hidden gem at the district with the most lively vibes. My friend introduce me to this tiki style bar and it reminds me a lot of the tiki bar at Disneyland. However, after going here a couple times, I much prefer it over the tiki bar at disneyland.Drinks: They have so many different drinks and if you let the bartender know what type of drink you usually prefer, they usually would be able to provide you with a mixed drink/cocktail to your liking. Food: So many different choices but I am a french fry fanatic and their house "stowaway fries" are my go to! Fries come out crispy and the braised pork is cooked to perfection. Customer Service - 10/10 for sure. I always appreciate places where the staff engages with the customers in a way where it makes it feel more welcoming. Leonard, Brian, Nancy, they're seriously the best. Having a business of my own, having good customer service is such a huge quality and stowaway "takes it away" to the next level for me. They always greet their customers, REMEMBER their customers, and more so, remember what I like. COVID-19 adjustment: They are adhering under CDC guidelines and they're doing great at it. They have outside seating and they're spread out. Staff wears gloves, masks, and make sure there are limited amount of people inside when ordering. Although it's been hot out recently and sitting outside could be overkill, the tables they have outside (little tiki bar style booths) and the cold cocktails they serve makes it feel like a summer in hawaii, so that alone makes me want to go here after work to unwind, EVERYDAY. Keep up the good work and thank you for being open, even with the hard times right now. I appreciate all small businesses persevering through all of this!

What a hidden gem! This cute tiki bar is right next to The Auld Dubliner and across Ra Sushi at the District. Nancee is such a a sweet angel and the owner was there ensuring everything was running smoothly, what a great guy. This place not only has some of the most delicious tiki drinks in OC, they also have delicious appetizers and a ridiculous Loco Moco! They are definitely doing things right during covid times and have super cute outdoor seating spaced apart properly. The staff here is so welcoming and just a good time! We come here often and will continue to be regulars :)

STOWAWAY is a neighborhood steakhouse with an old school vibe. The original location in Downtown LA opened in 1953 and this one in 1996. The decor is old school with booth seating on the inside. There is also outdoor dining on the patio. This is a place where the locals frequent on a regular basis. It was a Saturday night and everyone at the bar knew each other. The food was ok. Not stellar but not horrible. The bread was bland, which was disappointing. The filet was ok, but not worth the price. The couple next to us ordered the fish and chips, which looked good. The key lime pie was awesome! It made the trip worth it. I was also disappointed that my martini didn't come with olives. Perhaps it was an off night. Not sure I'd go back.

Came here July 14th 2020 for fiancé’s birthday for drinks with friends. VERY friendly staff with great drinks and food and service. Also great to see they wiped down and disinfected all seats and tables. Will be coming back 100%. Thank you staff and management for a great time!

It's been almost four (4) years since I first walked through the doors of Stowaway (then, called Hatch). Little did I know how my culinary life would change.A great deal has happened in these past four years. I've loved. I've lost. I've had amazing work days, and not so amazing work days. Politics have been good. Politics have been bad. There's been some crazy stuff going on in this world, but through it all, there has been one solid rock and foundation in my life: Stowaway.Owners Leonard and Dom, and bartender Nancee know what it takes to make a restaurant work. And they are supported by a killer back of house. There's never been an off-day. There's never been a day when customer service sucked. There's never been a day when the food was mediocre.Even though I'm a regular, I watch the way the staff embrace every guest (sometimes, literally, but not now, because #socialdistancing) and more often than not, the restaurant is filled with regulars. Because people come back. And why wouldn't you? The restaurant has a decor reminiscent of Gilligan's Island meets mid-century modern with so much attention to detail. It's a funky little hole in the wall that will surely become a new fun spot in your rotation of restaurants. But we don't go to restaurants just for the decor. Their Poly-Fusion "rations" (as they lovingly refer to their food) includes gourmet sliders, chicken katsu, coconut shrimp, shishito peppers, and even spam musubis. But wait! There's more!A review wouldn't be a review without talking about alcohol! Have you ever tried Fernet? You will if you visit Stowaway enough. Owner Leonard Chan has it on tap, and if you're lucky, just might share a shot with you.Beyond the Fernet (indie album name?), Stowaway rocks your favorite tiki cockatils: Mai Tais, Rum Runners, Pina Coladas, and my very favorite, Hemingway's Ghost (Papas Pilar 7, Lime, Grapefrut, and Luxardo). If cocktails aren't your thing, Stowaway has a huge selection of spirits to choose from, including some nice 23+ year rums. And of course, beer, so many beers! They recently started carrying beers from Golden Road which makes my heart, and tastebuds, smile.Life is too short to keep eating at the same old boring chain restaurants with the same tired food that has never known the love of a great chef. You deserve better. You deserve Stowaway.

Had great food, and great drinks, from an AMAZING staff. Very friendly and welcoming. Leonard took time to show me around so I could check it out. I am excited to go back, especially when the inside is open for indoor seating.
