“It’s easy to forget what it takes to keep a small, independent store alive — especially in a place like West Hollywood and especially when that store serves such a deeply personal and emotional purpose. My 12 Step Store has stood as a resource, a refuge, and a place of celebration for those of us in recovery. RJ, the founder, has put his heart and soul into this vision for over two decades, and it shows in the store’s global reach and local presence.
Are there areas for growth? Of course. Every small business has growing pains — especially one run largely by a single individual trying to balance online operations, in-store customer service, and inventory in a niche space. But that doesn’t erase the impact this store has had on thousands of lives, including my own. To be able to walk in and buy a meaningful gift for someone’s sobriety birthday — and to feel connected to a larger community of recovery — is something truly rare.
We need more places like this, not fewer. And we need to remember that the people behind them are human, too. I’m grateful this store exists and proud to support it.”

“I absolutely adore this place! It’s such an amazing haven for fans of Japanese music, especially fans of music from the 80s and 90s. I’ve found such amazing artists featured here, such as Akina Nakamori, Omega Tribe, Wink, Naomi Akimoto, and Tatsuro Yamashita to name a few. They also have CDs from early 2000s artists such as Namie Amuro, BoA, and various Visual Kei artists, which is amazing since their music tends to be hard to find on streaming services. The owner is also extremely knowledgable and is able to answer all of my questions. For fans of Japanese music in LA, this place is heaven!”

“Lucky Penny General store is a gem in Santa Monica. It's more like a home goods store, interior design style. Lots of home accessories. A mix of modern and nostalgic. The store is well lit and designed. Browsing is always fun and Claudia is the best. She also has great food recommendations nearby. I always go by for the classic candy machine. Worth considering when buying gifts for family and friends.”

“Love the late night, mellow vibes here. Soo many goodies for my eyes to feast upon when entering the shop! So much tantalizing incense! Ohh! Ah! So many cool t-shirts! Look at all these vapes! Wait... am I allowed to say that? Ahem... and such pretty pipes and dab rigs!The sensory overload is strong in this place! I'm seriously not allowed to come in here if I haven't taken my afternoon dose of Adderall otherwise my brain feels like a pinball machine, and my eyes dart back & forth like I'm all hopped up on Mountain Dew, and I end up making too many impulsive purchases. Damn, I really didn't need that box of whippets, 10 different kinds of incense, 3 new bubblers, 5 ceramic tips for my Nectar Collectors, a Costco-sized jar of mannitol, and hey, wait... oops, I believe this gorgeous feline belongs to you guys *nervously chuckles and hands over a purring yet confused Chloe* Yep! That'll be all! Thanks, guys! In all seriousness, Giftworx is a great shop with comparable prices and excellent service. Although I'm a bit vampy, I try to stop by during the afternoon to say hi to Dee and enjoy a bit of existential conversation and sage wisdom. Dee is the man! And Giftworx is the jam!”

“I stopped in here after leaving Catnip Coalition and what a cute boutique! I ended up buying a Havana body polish that smelled divine. While shopping the woman there gave us all these little lotion samples. After trying them out at home I fell I love!
I have never smelled lotion that makes me feel I’m on vacation somewhere but these did it. Not only do they smell heavenly but they’re not greasy at all. And I am super picky about what lotion I’ll put on my hands.
Today I drove an hour from home just to go back and buy the bigger sized lotions.These are great gift ideas and I got one for my mom. My 2 absolute favorite scents are Lavender cream and Lemon love so I bought those scents and the lemon love oil perfume that comes in a roller. Fun little shop with friendly people, magical scented lotions and perfumes.”

“Purchased a cheeky kake for a friend’s baby shower and it was the talk of the shower! The diaper cake was everything i needed and more; top to bottom with cuteness overload! The store is also baby supply heaven. Anything and everything baby accessorie you can think of they have and everything was so cute that you just want to have EVERYTHING.
Tiffany was also very helpful and welcoming when coming into her store. With so many options and ideas, you need her to help you narrow it down.
Will definitely be purchasing again for the next baby shower, maybe even a custom one hehe
