Department Stores
Sears Whittier is one of the remaining Sears stores in California, offering a selection of appliances, tools, clothing, and other items for families. Shoppers can find savings on well-known brands like Kenmore, Craftsman, and Levi's. However, the store shows signs of decline, with only the first floor open and limited merchandise available, including tools, mattresses, and kids' clothes. The store's atmosphere feels nostalgic yet somewhat dystopian, with merchandise spread out and some areas like the bathrooms and upper floors closed. Despite these issues, staff members are generally friendly and enthusiastic. Customers have noted good deals on tools and appliances when available, but many items are priced high, and inventory is scarce. Some visitors appreciate the store as a "walk down memory lane" and support its continued existence, while others express sadness about its decline and the possibility of it closing soon. Overall, Sears Whittier remains a place for those seeking specific items or wanting to support a long-standing business, but it is clear that the store is struggling to stay operational in a changing retail landscape dominated by online shopping.
