“Fun store! Employees and owners are friendly and helpful. Always my go to place when I need a gift or something special for me. Parking is easy during the week. I love Old Town Arvada!”
“My name is Neal, and I am a bona fide freak. I wish to share a few words on Freaky’s XI Arvada, and who and what the people are to me. I am a disabled, discarded, special operations, all hazard, heavy rescue fire medic, fire academy instructor, paramedic field instructor and preceptor, with no disability status. A handful of years ago, I moved to within ½ mile of Freaky’s XI. On my journey of healing, of letting go, I have found myself in places and spaces that I never knew I would encounter. On the way, I found that were I to have any sense of community, were I to begin to learn to know how and what it is to be a friend again, I would have to start where I am at, with the people that I regularly encounter in my life. I started there, and I started with the ones that I relate to the most - the kids, the freaks. Nine times out of ten, I go into the store, not to buy anything, but maybe a pop for myself and one for the kids, if I happen to have any money at the moment. In simply choosing to share of myself, my life, my experience, day in and day out, with the revolving cast of the usual few suspects at the Freak-House, I can now say, with full certainty and no ambiguity, the employees that I now call friends, as close or closer than any blood family member, that I have re-humanized myself. I owe my friends at Freaky’s a debt of gratitude, for they have been with me on my journey, on my way, that is the easiest debt to repay, one day at a time. And to those that have gone on from the shop, know that you are missed, and never forgotten. You are thought of, and you are in my prayers. God bless and protect all that grace the sacred ground of this shrine to the strange, to the Divine. Peace”
“Store was recommended to me by a friend and this place had way more than what I expected. Whenever I travel solo, I get something for my family so they aren’t mad at me for being gone. Well this turned out to be a 1 stop shop! Found lots of cool stuff, not just for my hubby but for my kiddos too. Her store has so many unique finds that you won’t see at the big box stores.
What’s even better is that it doesn’t hurt your bank account. Her pricing was really reasonable. Earrings for $10, shirts for $20, toys for $10. Grateful for the recommendation and will be popping by the next time I’m in town.”
