Chautauqua Park is a wonderful and awesome place on the west edge of Boulder, directly next to the mountains. It is a great introduction to Boulder and a perfect place to spend a couple of hours or a full day outside enjoying nature. The park offers breathtaking and mind-blowing views of the Flatirons, which are spectacular and incredible. There are many trailheads that form a web of interconnected trails for all hiking levels, from shorter loops to longer hikes further up into the mountains for even better views. The park is on a heavily sloped hillside, so roads and walkways are steep. The park has a large and varied playground for younger children and lots of picnic spots, including tables, a pavilion, and soft grass. Clean restrooms and portable toilets are available. Parking can be tough and crazy, especially during the day; it is free off-season but costs money during the on-season. The park is very dog-friendly, with many people walking dogs on the paths, a leash mandate, and a dog hydration station. It is a bit crowded during the day, so visiting after hours is recommended. This is a truly spiritual experience and a hearty recommendation for those with outdoor enthusiasm.
So pretty and clean. Dining in the area is delicious as well. My favorite spot to catch a sunset!

Great exercise challenge in hiking to the top. Great views, plenty of flora and fauna, and some nice people on the trail.

A wonderful place to go on a hike and enjoy some breathtaking views. Trails for all levels. I would have given 5-stars, but although there is a leash mandate, several people we saw didn't have their dogs on a leash.
