Good Bye Dicks, Hello Scheels! Went into the Chapel Hills Dicks today to exchange some Basketball shoes since the ones we purchased were slick on the floor and overall my younger son just didn't like. With 3 players in the family they all have different taste of court shoes. As you can imagine since we have 3 players in our family purchasing Basketball shoes is a big ordeal. We purchased 2 pair for the boys last week and I was in to purchase a pair for my daughter. This happens about every 4-5 months. I also coach my sons AAU team and my Daughters AAU team. We have always used this store as our go too for team supplies and my kids basketballs and gear. That changes today. After the clerk at the register "Anthony" decided to puff his chest out and with a grin decline any kind of a refund because they couldn't resale the shoes, my family and both teams can easily purchase gear elsewhere. He made it a point to call the shoe department up to the register and tell them he said no. He knowingly said this to pressure the shoe clerk without hearing what I had to say. When I started to pull up the app to call customer service he yelled from across the counter "I have it pulled up right here let me read the refund policy to you" then when the manager came he told him "we said no and I pulled up the refund policy right over there. Here is a quick lesson. Know your audience sir. Look at how much money is spent at your location. As I spoke with the manager on duty, I asked him to look around. There were two customers in the store......hmm I wonder why? I've been here since this location replaced the ice arena. I was born and raised here long before Dicks was around Colorado Springs. You want to fix a struggling store (20 years multi unit retail experience) identify your problem children and correct. So you saved an exchange, but lost future sales and suffer word of mouth. No wonder this place is hurting.

Employee refused to bag the items I purchased, due to “using less plastic.” Quick to take my money but couldn’t give me a simple bag! There were clearly several bags behind the register. I had to walk around the mall with my purchased items in my hand. Never again, considering I’ve been to several Dick’s Sporting Goods that have never said this.

My experience at Dick's Sporting Goods was the definition of customer service that goes beyond and achieves excellence. Today's encounter ensured Dick's will get a large portion of my future business. And it cost them 15 minutes of Dennis the Menace's time. I needed to replace the spikes in my golf shoes and had to find a matching replacement. Dennis the Menace took one out of the shoe I brought with me and we found a compatible replacement. He then proceeded to remove all the spikes on my shoe and put in the new ones. When I saw what he was doing I asked him if I could run to the car and get the other shoe. I left there with all my spikes replaced, the tool to do it myself (great training Dennis), a dozen Titleist Pro VI and a new loyalty. Oh, and the Veteran's discount was an added bonus. (BTW I was one over today in my round with new spikes and new golf balls! Thanks Dennis the Menace)

They advertise their hours until 9pm, but routinely lock up early and post signs saying to enter through the mall entrance. The mall closes by 8:30pm… maybe just update your hours to show that you’re not open until 9?

Shawn and his team took care of us Denverites today as his store was the only one in the state with the bat we were looking for. They processed our return, let us use our promo coupon even though it was technically for a Littleton location, and were really friendly and helpful through the entire process. I appreciate them going above and beyond for my son and helping him fulfill his dreams of baseball domination!

ASM (we didn't catch his name) found us to let us know they had a product in stock and other employee had just said they didn't carry. He not only did that, but then he helped us to save a lot of money and loaded the equipment into our car. Amazing customer service!!

Wow, drove all the way up here because the site said they had the right shoe in the right size. Not enough employees to help, had to fight to get one of the ones to help. Nope no shoe, blamed web site. What about a like shoe? Also nope. So don’t expect them to have what they say they will or for there to be anyone to help you when you get here.
