This store is huge and fun but the free parking has been reduced to an hour, which is no where near enough time to shop. Go to one of the other locations so you don't have to pay to shop!

Don’t bring your bike here for service. The guy who took my bike in treated me in a way that felt condescending and unkind and he tacked on services I did not ask for. The bike then rode worse than it had before I took it in. Don’t trust this shop.

There was a young man with curly hair at the checkout that was very pushy and rude with the membership and he made me very uncomfortable he was very forceful with me needing to give him a phone number. The store was great he just ruined the atmosphere at the end of our shopping trip

One of the flag stores of REI. Very big ,free parking for the first 1 hr. Complimentary climbing facilities with membership donation required.

I had a very disappointing experience at the REI flagship store in Denver. The staff treated customers unequally. I asked a female employee to try on shoes, and she said she’d get them but left me waiting while serving others. After giving shoes to someone else, she disappeared. I asked another male employee later, checked on tablet in front of me and quickly found out my size wasn’t in stock, wasting a lot of my time. I was only in Denver for one day and wanted to visit the flagship store, but this left me very frustrated. My friend had a similar experience. Poor service and a huge letdown.

REI may have expensive prices, but there's a good reason: membership is free and gives you a tax rebate at the end of the year (effectively making purchases tax free) and there's a 365 day return policy which is one of the best I've ever seen. Also, the service there is always phenomenal and everyone is extremely kind and helpful.
Not one bad experience in over 6 years of shopping here.

Ah yes, REI: Recreational Employees Ignoring-you
Walked into REI hoping to gear up for an actual outdoor adventure. Instead, I was treated to the great indoors: specifically, the REI Café & Social Club. The store was packed, but the only employees I could find were clustered together mid-aisle, sipping Starbucks like they were in the middle of a highly classified espresso summit. Not a headset in sight, just foam lattes and deep, meaningful conversations.
After playing “Where’s Waldo: Staff Edition” for 20 minutes, I finally made it to the checkout line with my item only to find that 2 of the 3 cashiers had clocked out mentally and physically right in front of me. They literally turned their backs to me mid-transaction and started chatting like they were at brunch. I stood there, item in hand, money ready, watching my chance of being acknowledged slowly dissolve into the customer service abyss.
Eventually I just muttered to myself, “I guess they don’t like money at this location,” gently laid my item down on the counter like a sacrifice, and walked out. Nobody noticed. Nobody cared. It was almost poetic.
Do not shop here unless you're into performance art about the collapse of retail service. REI, if I wanted to feel invisible, I’d go camping alone not shopping with you.
I'd give you 0/5 stars if it was possible.
