The Historic Delaware Hotel is a wonderful old building with lots of charm and a great central location, right in the center of Leadville within walking distance of shops and restaurants. The historic atmosphere is evident in the hallways with antique mirrors, carpets, and furniture, contributing to its Victorian vibes and gorgeous chandeliers. Many guests find the staff to be lovely, polite, relaxed, pleasant, and exceptional, often going above and beyond to ensure a great experience. The hotel features a delightful bar that serves delicious drinks and good coffee. The rooms are dated but comfortable, with cozy beds, though they are extremely small and lack modern amenities like AC, a fridge, microwave, or coffee machine. Guests should be aware there is no elevator, requiring a climb up steep, narrow stairs to the second and third floors. Bathrooms are also notably tiny. Some feel the price can feel steep for what is offered, noting the experience is more about historic character and charm than modern comfort or polished amenities. Overall, it is a historic hotel worth visiting for the old Leadville vibe and unique experience.
Didn't see a ghost ☹️. Appreciated the lovely staff who humored me when asking to tell me their ghost stories! Great location, wonderful old building with lots of charm, comfortable bed, and a delightful bar that served delicious drinks.
