“When a family member volunteered to be my kidney donor, I felt a strong responsibility to thoroughly research Denver’s transplant hospitals. While I’m confident that any of the facilities would have provided excellent care, Porter Adventist Hospital stood out as the best fit for my needs. Now, nearly six months after my surgery, I’d like to share my experience.
1. Quality of Care
From surgeons and physicians to nurses and pharmacists, every member of the Porter team delivered exceptional medical care. Their professionalism, compassion, and attentiveness made a significant difference in my recovery. While I was in the hospital, the transplant team met with me at least once a day to assess my progress and answer my questions.
2. Staff Interactions
The nursing staff was consistently attentive, caring, and responsive. Their warm demeanor and prompt assistance made me feel at ease. The surgeons and physicians listened carefully to my concerns and provided quick, effective responses. The pharmacy team went above and beyond—answering my medication questions and even helping resolve insurance issues.
3. Facility Cleanliness
The hospital was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Housekeeping staff, much like the nursing team, greeted me by name and even wished me luck before my surgery. Their friendliness and attention to detail helped create a truly welcoming environment.
4. Communication
The medical team kept me fully informed about my treatment plan and progress. They patiently answered my questions and used humor when appropriate, which helped ease my anxiety. I also appreciated the convenience of the online portal and telehealth visits for follow-up care.

He helped me think through my deductible. He genuinely cared about my health. We spent longer together than any Doc I have seen in recent memory. I recommend you come prepared. If you have questions write them down beforehand. You will get them answered. This is in contrast to the approach of, I can see you today for this one thing, then we will make an appointment for some other thing. You can actually make some progress with a little planning.”
