Great Sand Dunes Parking is a convenient parking area located near the Great Sand Dunes in Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. It offers ample free parking, with a small walk to the sand dunes. Visitors can find picnic spots and areas to rinse off the sand, though the informational posters show signs of sun damage. The parking lot is relatively large, but may fill up during peak times. Accessing the dunes may require a hike, and the terrain can be challenging for those with mobility issues. Overall, it is a fun destination, especially for sledding, although bringing personal sleds is recommended as the rentals may not be ideal.

This is the main parking area after the Visitor center that has direct access to the Dunes and river area (water depends on time of year). There is a picnic area, restrooms, and a changing area. The lot has standard and RV spots. They no longer rent out boards for sand-sledding.

Large lot right next to the sand dunes. It’s an easy, level walk to the dunes. From there, it’s more of a choose your own adventure through the dunes. There are trails to follow on Alltrails, but half the fun is picking your own route through the dunes.
