“I live in the mountains in Colorado - where it is getting more and more difficult to get insurance due to the fire risk. We were dropped by our long-time insurer because of this, and had to look for other coverage. We were turned down by several companies who wouldn't even look at the property. We have done a ton of fire mitigation, since we really don't want our house to burn down. So there are no trees really close to the house, all the tree debris is raked up every year, and the house exterior is stucco which is very fire-resistant. So even if there was a fire up in that area, the house would have a pretty decent chance of surviving it. I finally contacted Erica Szymankowski's agency - they were able to insure the house, at a price that was very reasonable. Yes, it's more than it would be to insure the same house in a safer place - but I expect to pay more for insurance because of where I have chosen to live. I was actually on the road when all this happened (dealing with a family emergency, which made it even more fun), and everyone at the agency was super helpful, patient, and friendly - and accommodated the fact that I was difficult to get a hold of for a while. It's a great place that takes care of their clients - highly recommend!”
