This Walmart is my go-to! Conveniently located on Farmington avenue in Bristol, this location has it all! They are always stocked with a great clearance section so you're always able to get a good deal! The only thing this Walmart doesn't have is a huge food section but they have the basics! Great location!

Walmart and TiresI needed some snow tires for my Jeep. Walmart had a great price, so I figured I'd give them a go. In today's day and age, many companies do not sell all of their products in their brick and mortar stores any longer, so I had no choice but to order them on-line for pickup. (I usually don't do that -- if I want to order on-line, I like the one-stop shopping of my regular big on-line company, but that's another story.)Before I ordered them, though, I wanted to make sure I could get them installed. This was a good call, because when I went on-line, after struggling to find out where I could book an appointment, the web page would not let me book one. Grrr!I drove to the Walmart in Newington, CT to see if I could book an appointment. There, I was told that the reason I could not book on-line was that they didn't have any open appointments for two weeks. I thanked them for their time and left the store. One quick visit to one of the "real" tire companies had me an appointment booked in 5 minutes.Walmart has been more and more disappointing to me. Historically, every company that chose to sacrifice top-notch customer service to cut expenses cut themselves right out of business. Caldor, K-Mart, Sears... all gone, because they switched away from personal service to automated processes. Walmart really needs to stop thinking in terms of its convenience and start giving good customer service. I could share story after story of rude or incompetent stales associates, but I will share one: I even had the unfortunate experience of going to the Bristol, CT Walmart and having ZERO employees at cash registers, with only the self-checkout machines open. I needed to make a tax-free corporate purchase that was just left on the counter as I left the store very disappointed. So, a tire store will get my few nearly $1000 for tires and Walmart can continue on its way thinking that a 2-week lead time for routine car service is even close to being acceptable.

Not the worst Walmart; however, it's far from the best. I like this Walmart because it's larger than my local Walmart, but it's not quite as big as a super Walmart. Nevertheless, they have more items and a more incredible selection than my local Walmart, which is nice; however, the experience is never as clean or friendly as my local Walmart.

If there is a sub- layer of HELL... this is it.Why do we go here...? Do we like self inflicted suffering? Probably the only reason to go to this Walmart. If your looking for a specific item.... this ain't the placeIf you're a collector of Star Wars figures.. forget this place.... cause the employees bought them before the figures even saw the sales floor.Long lines of the worst "people of Walmart". If you like to see locals shopping in their dirty pajamas (and slippers) then this place is for YOU!If you enjoy irate customers fighting with mentally deficient staff.. THIS IS YOUR PLACE! If you enjoy seeing pan handlers on the parking lot, and homeless tents pitched in the back woods , this is the place! Can we review with zero stars?I'm going back tomorrow.Because I hate myself

A Bristol Mainstay, this Walmart hugs the Bristol/Farmington line. It has been around since my childhood in the 90s, and has been through a variety of in store makeovers, their most recent one as of last year. It's definitely better than some other Walmarts I've been in as far as smell, organization, and selection. Yes, they're still doing the Subway-in-Walmart deal, and the Subway is up to date as far as renovations and selection is concerned. There is an eye center as well, but there are no photo studios (are those even a thing anymore?), hair salons, or nail salons. This Walmart has all the departments you'd expect, and they do sell cigarettes. There is no alcohol here, and while there's a grocery area, don't expect to use it for one stop shopping, as the grocery selection is limited in selection & stock. They have a robust electronics area with everything from vinyl and mid range record players to doorbell cams to Smart TVs (and a non-existent in store selection of non smart TVs, which stinks). They have all the games and accessories for console gaming, including mini arcade cabinet setups if you're into that kind of thing. There's also a decent furniture section & outdoor patio/garden center. The sports area is a bit lacking when it comes to gear, but for the amount of space they've allotted for the sporting section, there's a good variety. This Walmart overall is cleaner than others, like I said. There are employees on the floor all day, even if they're not actually trained to help. I highly recommend visiting with the Walmart shopper apps preinstalled, as that's what the staff will suggest. It's also nice to have a price scanner that works on hand, as the store offered ones work, but only sometimes, or are hidden behind an employees work station of a pallet of unstocked boxes. There is a decent automotive section and they do the battery recycling program. But don't expect to get your tires or oil changed at this Walmart. They don't have that kind of automotive center. The checkout area is a mess, per usual. The lines are long with giant orders, & there's never enough registers open for the customer volume. The self checkout is updated and is pretty ok. I recommend that if it's not too busy. The service desk area remains unchanged with long lines, and employees who are preemptively tired of your excuses before you even say "hi". Overall, it's a Walmart, and not the worst one. If you need to go to Walmart, and are in the area, this will meet your Walmart needs. There's also a public bus there and across the street that passes every hour.

Their website lists items are in stock when they are not. I drove a mile in the rain because they indicated that hard large rolls of bubble wrap in stock. Shelves were bare. Stock person no help at all. I would not order for pick-up here with a debit card ever again because the first and only time I did a store employee here stole my CC number and bought several FitBits and other items. It was still happening when I noticed - I had to call the Bristol Police to pay them a visit. HUGE hassle. Terrible store. ALWAYS out of stock on what you want, and website is always WRONG. AVOID!
