“I have a 2014 Subaru Outback with 180,000 miles on it.
The check engine came on, and I took the car to a Subaru dealership. They let me know that the code was 2763 which indicates a problem in the transmission valve body.
They told me I had to replace the entire transmission for close to $7,000 versus around $2,000 for the valve body. I thought that was excessive and wanted to get a second opinion and took my car to Portland Automotive.
Portland Automotive thoroughly diagnosed the problem and confirmed that one of the valves was bad in the valve body and said I had to replace the valve body only.
They replaced the valve body in a timely manner, but unfortunately, when I got home, the check engine came back on and now there was a noticeable problem with the transmission.
I called Mike at Portland Automotive and he immediately said he’s going to send a tow truck to pick up my vehicle and take it back to the shop and make it right. Unfortunately, on the way back to Portland Automotive on the tow truck something happened to the radiator which caused it to start leaking.
Instead of charging me for a new radiator, they replaced it at no charge. They also redid the entire valve body repair and tested the car for three days to make sure everything was OK.
I’m happy to report as of now it is running smoothly.
I would highly recommend Portland Automotive for standing by their work and their honest evaluation of my transmission problem.”
“Excellent customer service! They are here to help, no cheating, no overpriced. I had a bit of unique situation - my car seat recliner setting was changed/moved all the way back by another repair/mechanic while trying to fix the car AC and now the seat won’t go back up. Went back to the original mechanic and they couldn’t do anything. I came to Joe’s just for an opinion- if it’s doable at all, or I had to replace electrical stuff inside the seat and one of the guys was nice enough, took the car in as a walk-in and 10 mins later it’s done!! He was trying to evaluate what’s wrong but tried couple things and it worked!! Honest auto repair, highly recommend their services”

“Great experience. Wanted to add running boards to my truck and was referred by someone and was coming all the way from Naugatuck. I stopped in and met with Randy. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. I’m always concerned about being taken advantage of as a woman with anything car related but I had done some research prior to going there. So I knew the prices he quoted me were reasonable. I was able to get an appt scheduled within a week. My truck looks great. I’m very happy with the work done. It was finished in the time I was originally quoted. Everyone I met there was professional and personable and made you feel comfortable. I was never made to feel like I was being forced to buy the next latest and greatest thing for my truck so no heavy pressure salesmen like some places. There’s a nice little waiting area but you’re close enough to Main Street that you can just walk to get something to eat or go shop while you wait. Convenient location. Definitely recommend. “I was up from Florida and in East Haddam and my battery died, and when I jumped it the check engine light came on and it was idling very rough and not transitioning through the speeds very well. I called Mike’s b/c I had to make my way up to MA. He said the bays were full for the day but he could take a look in the lot, he ran the diagnostics and recalibrated the electronics and sent me on my way. He’s my new go to guy when I’m up here for the summers.”

“They always go above and beyond for all of our car needs. They take the time to explain to me what needs to be done and always manage to make time. Recently had some sort of computer malfunction which lit up every warning light on the dash. I was able to drive right in and they diagnosed it and fixed it within 15 min. “I will be giving all of my auto repair and services to Bills Auto. I can’t say enough about their customer service. I called and explained the issue my Ram truck was having, they let me know of all the options for repair and possible manufacturer coverage.
After getting the truck fixed through warranty, my truck still needed brakes and fluids. The dealership cost was ridiculous! I brought my truck to Bill’s and they made sure that those services were required.
At no point did Bill’s Auto try to upsell any of the unnecessary services that the dealership tried to. Needless to say I paid a quarter of the price for the required stuff.”
