I pay for a membership for my daughter and niece. But what I don't agree with is that we have to call to see if we can use the pool, or if they are going to have swimming lessons and it turns out that the times they have for those lessons are right when the kids get out of school. And then the schedule resumes at times when the kids obviously can't use them anymore, because they have to go to bed early for school.

Lynn, the swimming manager, is incompetent. She is hostile towards her staff and never is able to answer questions. Nor is she helpful to customers. She brings down the whole YMCA experience.

The first negative review I posted I was called about and I took it down out of kindness- because they where so concerned over how they would look- the staff was more worried about the review then the concern with my childs safety. I will not remove this one. My daugther is enrolled in 3 different classes. The staff still does not care about the languages used by the younger guests!
But todays biggie was that My bank card was charged today WITHOUT my permission. Lynn had no right to run my card at all without my permission- Saturday morning I was there for my daughters dance class, i asked the front desk girl to sign my child up again for private swim lessons and to pay for it, she told me that I was unable to sign her up or pay Saturday because Lynn did not put through the proper paperwork…. Feel free to check your cameras- I spoke to the younger girl at desk for over 5 min….So now Today I woke up to a $125 charge and a $35 overdraft fee. As we all know times are tough financially for everybody. As a single mom, this was the worst thing to see during the summer. I Try to have my daughter involved and as much as I can to keep her active. But the YMCA has caused me nothing but trouble since I signed her up. Once this session is over, I truly don’t know if I would sign her up again- i am disgusted at Lynn and how she continues to treat me and my family- last session it took over 2 months for her to sign my child up “because she forgot!” now she runs my bank card without permission!!??? - This is supposed to be a family environment , this is supposed to be community building and you have staff members that are running guests cards on file for payments without their permission- I have left a voicemail and the only person that I can talk to is Gary at the front desk- Who by the way needs a raise because he seems to be the only one with manners. Lynn needs to be spoken to- she is rude to her employees, she makes fun of children in the pool (my child I have heard her say 2 things about before- ask her about the belly flop- now my child is embarrassed when she does that instead of laughing) & now lynn is processing payments without permission !!???? This is ok YMCA?!! & don’t you dare blame the swim instructors because we all know they are not in charge of taking payments and maybe the management should listen to the staff when they bring up issues about Lynn!!!!!! I truly appreciate cleanliness, customer service, warm locker room for the ladies, hot showers and dry sauna, warm swimming pool and toasty swimming area with chairs.

A little dated but has the essential machines needed for a gym. Bonuses, basketball court, volleyball, child watch with rock climbing. Has three rooms dedicated to the gym, one cardio, one cable machines, and one free weight room. One of the few places that watch your child while you work out.

I have been a member with the YMCA in Naugatuck, CT for almost 2 years now. Within those 2 years, I have never felt anything other than satisfaction with the facility. After a long and difficult day at work, nothing makes me happier than greeting the friendly and helpful staff as I check in to swim a few laps or partake in one of their fantastic group exercise classes. They do a great job in keeping the place clean and presentable and I always feel welcomed. I would recommend the YMCA in Naugatuck to anyone who is looking to get a great workout and gain new friends.

Ever since they changed their rules this ymca has been terrible. You pay full price for your child to use the facility only to be kicked out at 5:30. My son has had a pass for almost 3 years and never needed a guardian and now he cannot stay without one. They do not update you through email about changes or programs until you say something. And you can also no longer pay daily to use the facility, very disappointed in one of the only facilities this town has to offer.

It's a second time I didn't get positive feelings and vibes from the staff even though I am very positive person and see everyone as humans regardless of their skin color this Y staff seems to be color strict. It's literally next to my house but still go to other Y in waterbury which seems to be more welcoming and diverse crowd.

Avoid the pre-k services. We sent our son here for pre-k to transition him out of daycare. His transition was bumpy and we worked with our son when issues would arise. Some of the things they told us our son was doing was unbelievable and was not observed at his daycare he was at prior. Nevertheless, we strived to work with the YMCA to adapt and correct the issues. Halfway through the school year the director dropped us stating things were not improving and refused to work with us. This put an additional strain on us and we could not find anyone with full-time pre-k openings in reasonable distance to us. This also caused additional emotional strain on our son trying to explain why he can’t go back to see his friends. Eventually we found a local place to us with part-time openings. At our current provider, our son never exhibited any of the extreme behavior that was said to have happened at the YMCA. I’m starting to cast doubt on the issues as reported by YMCA and I would never trust this place with any childcare. I also think that it is despicable that this place recently received both state and federal funding to expand their childcare services. They should not be allowed to receive public funds for doing this to parents and children.
