Whiskers Pet Rescue is a no-kill cat rescue organization in Southbury, Connecticut. It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity run entirely by dedicated volunteers committed to helping and caring for cats and kittens who have been abandoned, injured, abused, or neglected. The rescue is open to the public Wednesday through Sunday from 1 to 4 pm, but adopters with pre-approved applications have priority. The cats are kept in clean pens, and many appear content and frisky in their environment. The volunteers in the rescue department are described as "real nice people." Whiskers is a great center with well-cared-for cats and kittens, including a need for more foster families to care for newborns, pregnant cats, and those with special needs. They also help with rescues and support animal care and control in neighboring communities, placing older kittens in comfortable "senior to senior" homes and finding appropriate placements for working cats. Visitors praise the beautiful, clean facility and the evident love and care the cats receive. Many have successfully adopted cats, including senior cats, through the organization's programs. Volunteers who have worked at Whiskers describe the staff and fellow volunteers as dedicated to the rescue and wellbeing of the animals.
