They have bed bugs in all the rooms . Not enough staff to take care of the residents . Residents are neglected . The food is nasty for all the money they pay .

Last November (2021) we made the decision to move my mom into the memory care section of Maplewood at Southport. The facility has beautifully designed spaces, fireplaces, open kitchens, elegant dining rooms set with fresh linens and flowers, beautiful outdoor gardens, water features, courtyards and comfortable areas to sit and relax.Of course, support for Mom has been very important to us. Leslie, Meghan and management helped transition Mom into Maplewood seamlessly. Diane Pimentel, RN has guided us through all of Mom’s medical issues. Xrista and Marney plan numerous interesting and enriching activities for the residents each day. The aides, nurses, housekeepers, cooks and people at the front desk are always helpful, positive and friendly. The care provided to mom has far exceeded our expectations in every way.

My family were residents here. It was a horrible experience for them. We had to move them out. There is not enough staff to care for people. The place looks pretty, that's the only thing you can say. The food quality changed, for the worse, it's not farm to table, it's school cafeteria turkey roll and hotdogs.. The memory care residents receive poor supervision, the activities are basically watching videos on tv. we found the care to be neglectful, no one cues the residents to eat, so they will end up malnourished. Residents are left alone for Long periods and just wander Or sit in chairs sleeping. Do not place your family here. We voiced our concerns but they always had an excuse. We did not find them knowledgeable about dementia or memory care. we Do not recommend that u place your family here. Run.

Maplewood at Southport has been a blessing for our family; our mother lives on Currents (which is the memory care floor) and we're couldn't be happier with the level of care, activities and staff. The facility and grounds are beautiful with multiple indoor and outdoor seating areas with fireplaces, plantings and lovely furniture. The staff truly enjoy the residents and make every effort to keep them busy with fun activities such as concerts, outings off campus, speaker series, culinary events and wine tastings. Our mother is very happy and adjusted easily as a result of the caring staff and level of activities.

Maplewood is a friendly, caring community. The entire staff- from the staff in the dining room to the RSAs to the director- is so welcoming. They greet visitors and residents with smiles and are always willing to help out. My father has been well taken care of there. The memory care staff is excellent and the programs are designed with the residents' interests in mind.

I chose Maplewood Southport because of it’s beauty and its proximity to my home. Little did I know that a pandemic was around the corner. Before the pandemic, I had imagined that my mom and I would be thick as thieves hanging out like we had for years and years all over town. I also was excited to have family meals in the stylish dining room with their farm to table cuisine that my husband, a renowned chef, raves about. Although we had to keep our distance for a while, Maplewood stood in the gap for my family, I called it a cruise ship on land! The activities in Southport are enriching, sophisticated, and leave my mom feeling engaged and connected. Live music by talented musicians is a constant. I enjoy them as much as the residents! But the ultimate attribute that shines through at Maplewood Southport is the quality and transparency of the leadership. They listen, respond, and are willing to evaluate areas where improvement is possible. The director, Thamara Barbosa -Tirri sets the tone with her openness, compassion and high standards. In addition, Xrista Christopoulos, the memory care director, is tireless and passionate about the dignity and value of her clients. This is the core of our relationship; caring together about what is in the best interest of my Mom, to whom I owe everything!

Jean (Nursing/Wellness Dir.) and Xrista (Memory Care Dir.) are outstanding and very communicative with family. Carrie (Community Relations) and Thamara (Executive Director/Operations) are equally professional and compassionate.

My tour of Maplewood at Southport confirmed that Maplewood is a beautifully designed, state-of-the-art community whose staff is committed to providing exceptional care to their independent, assisted-living, and memory care residents. Among the outstanding offerings are farm-to-table dining, entertainment and exercise programs, and a diverse variety of daily activities and program choices designed to cultivate the interests and participation of every resident. The beautiful interior and outdoor setting, in tandem with outstanding dining, entertainment and activities options, are reminiscent of resort-style living.

My parents feel very fortunate to be living at Maplewood at Southport. Arriving during Covid was concerning, but the staff at Maplewood has been careful to keep everyone as safe as they can while maintaining a good balance of activities and dining that help the residents feel like they can socialize. We can't say enough good things about the staff. They all do the best they can to make your experience at Maplewood positive. The nursing staff that is on duty is excellent. The food and the dining staff are great! The activities staff goes out of their way to include anyone who may want to participate. The facility is beautiful and just makes you feel good to be there as soon as you walk in, or sit in the common areas. Since it is not that large, everyone gets to know each other and the staff gets to know who you are. It is a lovely group of residents and a warm and welcoming place to live. Everyone does what ever they can do make you feel at home. As an aside, while there are many who are singles there is a good representation of couples too, which was great for my parents.

Maplewood has been a positive experience for my loved one and our family from the get go. The application and assessment phase was handled with care and dignity for my memory-compromised mother in law. Maplewood assisted us with the transition to her new space in June 2020 and provided the emotional support she needed to become comfortable in her surroundings. They have helped her find new interests and make new friends. She is healthier than she has been in years. The staff is incredibly receptive to our family's questions and needs and has advised us well along the way. Their confidence in their ability to make her happy and respect they showed for my mother in law, allowed my family to breathe a sigh of relief that she was safe. Maplewood's Covid protocols have impressed me as well as their transparency. Their desire to keep their community safe has been tempered with the understanding that my loved one needs to see family during this tough time. I continue to be delighted by the professionalism of all levels of staff, their warmth, and knowledge dealing with memory compromised individuals. Maplewood earns high marks in every category!

A+ experience at Maplewood Southport. From Senior Mgmt of the parent company to the individuals running the facility, you get a caring, focused, high quality experience for both the residents as well as the families. They work there because they care! No need to look further if looking for a safe, happy place to care for parents.. Highly recommend!

3 Months In, Mom is Really Happy! My siblings and I moved our mother into Currents, the Maplewood at Southport Memory Care Program, in the early Fall after getting more and more frustrated with her previous residence. Our only regret is that we did not move her sooner! The Program Director, Activities Specialist, and staff have been extremely kind and caring - no easy task on a good day, but especially incredible during this Covid year. The community itself is only a year old, and Maplewood has leveraged technology well, starting with our virtual Facetime tour of the facility, which made a huge impression on us. We can sign up online for a 30 minute outdoor visit by the fireplace, another huge plus this year. Mom's room has a beautiful view of the pond and rear grounds. The Currents Program has a beautiful and safe outdoor seating area which looks like a resort! Finally, Mom and the other residents are staying safe. The community is extremely well managed. Five stars, 10 out of 10!!

The entire staff made the transition for my 90 year-old father and our family as seamless as possible. They lessened the burden on us and made him feel so welcomed as he transitioned to the memory care floor and they were extremely transparent and protective as we all navigated through COVID. I recommend highly
