“The "Wharf to Waterfall" exhibit is full of Connecticut River Valley history. This should be part of the social studies curriculum in the Tri-Town area and an ongoing exhibit. Learn how manufacturing built the towns and communities of Deep River, Essex, Centerbrook, Ivoryton and Old Saybrook. Kudos to the Deep River Historical Society for acknowledging the commerce of slavery in the production of ivory products.”
“We had adopted a small black female from Forgotten Felines about 14 years ago. Lollipop became a family member, she was a very much loved and spoiled little girl. Unfortunately she died suddenly a few weeks ago, we were heartbroken. After a while we felt the house was too quiet, we missed Lolli very much, however we also missed having a companion around to dote on and brighten our day. Our first thought for adoption was Forgotten Felines, the cats are very well cared for by numerous volunteers. The cats are not kept in cages, however allowed to roam freely in very clean rooms with many cat beds, toys, litter boxes and plenty of food and water. Each room has access to a catio where they can safely go and enjoy being close to the outdoors.
We found a mature small black female online, Biscuit, we went to the next open house. Forgotten Felines was the same as it was 14 years ago, clean, well maintained, with many happy cats who were well cared for.
The volunteers took us to her, she was a small, very sweet, gentle, beautiful girl. We spent about two hours with her. I completed an application online using my phone while my wife and daughters continued to spend time with Biscuit. I spoke to the director who told us the process could take up to two weeks. While the time may seem a bit long especially when you want to adopt, it is best for the cat as they are ensuring it is going to a good home and will be cared for.
Biscuit is now with us, and adjusting to her new home. This new member of our family will be loved and spoiled. I want to thank Forgotten Felines for allowing us to adopt her, I know she will be very happy with us.”
