“This is truly one of the nicest thrift shops around. The store is always very clean, well-organized, and easy to browse, which makes shopping such a pleasant experience. You can tell a lot of care goes into keeping everything neat and thoughtfully displayed. The prices are fantastic, and there are always great deals to be found.
What really makes this shop special, though, is the people. The staff is entirely volunteer-based, and they are some of the most helpful and friendly individuals you’ll meet. They are always willing to answer questions, help you find something specific, or simply greet you with a warm smile. Their dedication really shows—they work tirelessly and truly care about the shop, the customers, and the mission behind it.
Another huge plus is how often the inventory rotates. They’re open six days a week, and new items are constantly hitting the floor. Every visit feels like a treasure hunt because there’s always something new and exciting to discover. Whether you’re looking for a specific item or just browsing, you’re almost guaranteed to leave with a great find.
I highly recommend stopping in and seeing for yourself. It’s a wonderful shop run by wonderful people, and it’s definitely worth visiting again and again!”
“This place is such a blessing to the town, I hope people continue to bless, so that the owners can bless each customer that walks the the door. The owner Kim is such a sweet, kind woman, she answered any questions I had w a smile. ??”

“One of the few Goodwills that is large, clean, and had some quality items. The aisles were wide and organized.Scored an LL Bean fleece for $10. Saw a pair for LL Bean duck boots for $15. There were a bunch of brand names for cheap. The cashier was friendly at checkout. They don't have bags so I recommend bringing your own or just carrying your stuff out. All on all, definitely the best Goodwill I've been to and I've been to quite a few.”
“I run the Salvation Army next door, and this thrift store is my all-time favorite. I buy almost all of my work clothes from there as they are so reasonably priced! especially on DOLLAR DAYS and HALF PRICE DAYS! I also feel it’s important for the community to know that Valley Thrift has continued to support local charitable work in very significant ways. They generously donate to our work multiple times each year. Most recently, they sponsored over 100 Thanksgiving baskets for families in need, in addition to providing financial contributions that directly support our local programs. Those baskets helped ensure that many families in Winsted were able to gather around a full holiday meal.
While pricing decisions are made by the store’s management, I can personally attest that their contributions have had a real and tangible impact on local families. The generosity we’ve experienced from them has been consistent and meaningful.”
