Tina saved my life!!! This location in general saved my life. This was the best experience I’ve had, and I was in a very stressful situation where I needed a rental to get home and Tina helped me with absolutely no problem. She put my nerves at ease and got what needed to be done FAST. Give Tina a raise!!!!!!!

Reservations mean nothing here. You can even call ahead and double check that they have the reservation you made, they will say yes, and when you get there they will say they have no cars for you.

🚨 DO NOT EVER RESERVE A CAR HERE 🚨 . . . Their system crashes A LOT. When you arrive to pick up your car, you won't get it, & then you won't be able to get a car anywhere else. Trust me, stay away. This location should be shut down, at least until Budget finally goes out if business completely 😎👎

Waiting for an hour and a half for a prepaid rental. Numerous cars already returned but no one turning them over to be available for rental.

Horrendous experience. I booked my reservation online on 2/9/25 and paid upfront at the time of the booking. I reserved a minivan for 5/17/25 so Budget had over 3 months to make arrangements. I arrived at the counter in DC and 17 people were in front of me. They had a sign up that said everyone who made a same day booking would not get a vehicle. The agent announced that the website allows you to book even when vehicles aren’t available. That shortened the line but it still took an hour and 15 minutes to get to an agent. When it was finally my turn I was told that there were no minivans available. The vehicle that I was given was not large enough to meet my needs but I had no other option at that point. When I dropped it off at my destination they informed me that I owed them for gas despite me returning the vehicle with more gas than it had initially. They wrote that it had a full tank of gas on my paperwork at pickup even though it was on half a tank. I signed my paperwork at the kiosk before I even had a chance to see the car. There was no car inspection. Thankfully I took a photo of the dash when I first got in which showed the mileage and gas gauge. I don’t know if this was intentional money grab by Budget or just another act of incompetence. You are much better off paying more money with a reputable Car rental company than wasting your time and money with Budget.

I reserved a vehicle through Expedia at 10am for a 12pm pickup.
I stood and waited in line for 1 hr just to be told that they do not have any vehicles for same day reservations..
While still in line @ 12:57pm, Expedia still showed availability.
This was the worst experience ever.
Please avoid at all cost, use Turo or something.

Good luck finding this place. Thankfully I got a truck (had a suv reserved), the ladies at the desk got me on the road but the 1-800 customer service is worthless. Reservations and the 800s customer service don’t mean a thing.

I went to this location to exchange a car that had a defective front left tire and looked like it was about to rupture (see photo). The low pressure light kept going off so I called budget about the issue. They said I can simply go in and exchange the car and confirmed that there were cars available at this location. However, once I got there, I was immediately told that there were no cars available and basically told to go to another location.
I was furious about this treatment and argued with the manager who didn’t even try to understand my frustration. I was driving with my wife and 10 month old and I didn’t feel safe driving this car with a defective tire. I felt that my concerns were not heard so I ended cursing her out and calling her a liar for not having any cars available.
Security was eventually called on me because I insisted she provide her name and/or card so I can submit a complaint. Security came so I told him my story and why I was furious. He seemed to understand and spoke with the manager to see if there’s any kind of resolution.
He mediated the conversation with me and the manager and I ended up apologizing to her for my behavior/insults.
Even though this experience was terrible and frustrating at first, I really appreciated the security guard trying to help out and bring calm to a stressful situation. The manager was able to honor the exchange in the end but I still feel bad for how I reacted. Hopefully this 5 star review makes up for it.

Why can't someone working at the Washington, DC, train station location answer the phone? How does one rent a car outside of the minimal hours this location is open? It's the Nation's Capital, for goodness sake!

This is specifically a shout-out to Michelle Clark, the agent lead at the DC Union Station Budget. She went so far above and beyond to help me resolve a problem related to a car return & missing keys (my bad) that had been made worse by terrible phone customer support (as I said, this is a shout-out to her... not Budget in general). I was almost in tears by the time I got to the counter - she was kind, super-knowledgable and was committed to resolving the issue, which ultimately took a big chunk of time. I'm so grateful for her help.

The location of the rental kiosk was ridiculous. Hidden on either the 3rd or 2nd floor, inside the parking garage. There were no elevators in sight to get to it. We had to walk through the garage, in actively used lanes, down a floor to get to it. Then a line of 15 people (I counted), and only 2 people in the kiosk. You’ll want to make another choice when it comes to this location, unless it’s your only choice. Just be prepared to walk and wait.
The car/suv itself was fine, but I definitely wouldn’t have chosen it (2024 RAV4) when you’ve got a line or section of cars to choose from. It was severely underpowered with a CVT transmission. When stepping on the gas, it would just wind up and stay there. A lot of noise, but no get up and go.
