Food was good. The staff were very friendly and attentive. In a nice part of town and worth a visit if in the area.

The Cubano sandwich is always on point. The meat loaf is really good as well. I really enjoy the late night happy hour, they have a good oyster special which pairs well with a good beer.

About the restaurant: Set in the midst of the hottest Washington entertainment-dining scene in Chinatown, in the revitalized Penn Quarter, Clyde's of Gallery Place has held its own in the battle for the discriminate diner. Tourists and locals alike find good eats in the surroundings that remind one of Hong Kong's opulent Empire era. The Victorian décor dominates with grandeur and the occasional bronze statues and sports memorabilia---ever mindful of its location next to the Verizon Center, home of the city's basketball and hockey teams.Food: Clyde's has been buying from local producers for over a decade, having their farm network long established before it became a trend. Look for the monthly specials that represent a fresh theme taken from foods at the peak of the season, such as rockfish with spinach and fried sweet potatoes. The chefs are aware of balance, so it makes sense to find the best freshly ground hamburger in town next to a Folklife salad with its spinach matched with red peppers, carrots, red onions, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries and mango vinaigrette. In season look for desserts that feature fresh fruits and berries from the farm---shortcakes and cobblers excel. In the winter, a molten chocolate truffle cake with crème anglaise and berry sauce will delight. From comfort to healthy to vegetarian, this restaurant touches all the bases, with a home run or two to keep people coming back.
