“Private club that allows open table reservations ... We had great service, mussels appetizer was super. We split a salad and the steak frites - they split in the kitchen and presented separately - nice touch! Food was great ...”

“We had an exceptional wedding at the Mess Hall this summer and cannot recommend it highly enough. From the very beginning, Al, Jordan, and the entire team were thoughtful, organized, and truly invested in making our vision come to life. Their preparation and planning were outstanding; from seamlessly connecting us with excellent vendors and caterers to offering creative, practical ideas for how to best use the space. Communication was always prompt, clear, and reassuring.
On the wedding day itself, everything ran flawlessly. The venue’s industrial character paired beautifully with modern conveniences, and the flexibility of the space made the night unforgettable. We held our ceremony and dancing outside in the dock space, while the interior provided a comfortable, stylish space for dinner and for guests who wanted a break from the dance floor. The flow of the evening felt effortless. We couldn’t have been happier with our experience and would choose the Mess Hall—and its incredible team—again without hesitation.”
“Absolutely fantastic DC Watch show hosted by none other than the Mr. Time Bum! And it’s completely FREE to the public!
What an event, soo many watch companies (many of whom are stellar micro-brands), the place was packed with enthusiasts!
We only went on March 8th but it’s a two day event.
So many brands to discover, and so many opportunities to buy fantastic watches at a large discounts. But most important of all, you get to try watches that are usually only available online.
Great atmosphere overall, wasn’t too crowded to the point where you couldn’t move. You actually get to talk in person to brand owners and their reps. And they even have daily giveaways!”
“We had our wedding at Fathom Gallery on 14th Street a couple days ago and it was absolutely amazing! The space is gorgeous. It has such a cool vibe and made for the most beautiful setting. Emily, Meg, and Olivia are seriously the best. They were so easy to work with, super organized, and just genuinely great people. It honestly made it a no-brainer to choose Fathom! They also connected us with the best vendors, which made the whole planning process so easy and stress-free. Couldn’t recommend this venue and team more!”
“Ive tried a few clubs this was a more older entity, the wait staff although professional werent as cordial /friendly as I had hoped. The salad bar was good pesto orzo salad, and chickpea salad were great. The potatoe gnoochi was okay. 2 versions of plated cheesecake 1) slider 2) half roll cake”

“It’s a cute vintage theater. Knocking a star off for the super sticky floors. I was seated and wanted to tap my feet along to the music but the soles of my shoes were getting stuck ?”
“Was there for a party. Beautiful and spacious. Space for reception, large room for speakers, that converted to dance floor with DJ and beautiful outdoor balcony. Additional rooms on first floor. Wonderful for large parties/event in gorgeous historic building.”
“I love it down here, sometimes my son gets in the water and sometimes we go on the other side, find a tree and sit under it. A chill vibe with friendly people. One important part for me is the Throne Toilets porta potty because you scan the qr code with your phone, that prompts you to send a text and when you come out they send a survey, it controls who comes in while also allowing you to let them know if its clean. All in all, I love The Yards Park and recommend it and go maybe 2-4 times a month. I thought this pic was cool, shows some of why I love it, the water. I went down again snd took some other pics while on a boat ride, thank me later”
“Beautiful spot. We live downtown and go to their location on 17th St but headed across the river for an event and decided to stop here. Awesome wine list and tasty snacks.”
“WONDERFUL. For a nice, self guided tour of US Navy History, this is the place. Clean and comfortable, you'll enjoy getting out of the heat or cold. The first shop offers all US Military branch souvenirs. I love coming here on every trip to DC.”

“Mu husband was having cancer surgery at GWU Hospital in DC. The AKA was easy walking distance to the hospital. The property provided a delightful environment from the spacious room and the restaurant bar area. Front desk extremely accommodating. Highly recommend this charming boutique hotel.”
“We had our wedding at HQO, and we had an amazing time. Both the indoor and outdoor spaces are beautiful and spacious. We had 145 people at our wedding and everyone fit comfortably. We worked with Raul throughout the wedding planning process, and he was a pleasure to work with. We had lots of meetings and walkthroughs to coordinate everything with HQO and our vendors, and the process was smooth and Raul was so helpful and friendly throughout.”
“There is a mixture of wholesale businesses and trendy retail storefronts in the Florida Ave Market area.
Wall art and decorations make an interesting landscape. We attended an event there but i would like to explore the area and it's food scene.”
“Great space, visited twice for the annual Whiskey Washback event. An upstairs mezzanine with tasting rooms, a lower ballroom with good ambiance. Easy accessible via the metro and several nearby garages offering discounted evening parking rates.”
“I attended an anniversary party there not long ago. They were celebrating one year of being in business. It's a great place to rent for any number of events. However, parking is not great because it's located downtown DC.”
“We hosted an event yesterday at the beautiful Hill Center on their entire 2nd floor, and can't tell you how amazing it was. The venue is beautiful. The staff is incredible: positive, helpful willing to make your event perfect and easy, from set up, to complicated audio, to clean up; special call out to Liz, Leroy, and James. I hope I can host another event there!”
“What a story of industry support to bring Credit Unions and legislatures together to talk about what's important to our communities and to our members. Thank you to those who came before me and had the forethought to serve the people and meet their needs for financial wellness.”
“Beautiful rooftop venue with clear views of the Capitol, just like the name declares. Only hitch in the evening reception I attended here was the power cord kept falling off the beam where it was taped. Not sure if that was a venue issue or a vendor issue, but either way it was distracting. But you can't top the views and convenient DC location!”

“Not far from Saint Ann’s Catholic Church on Wisconsin Avenue, I had my wedding reception here many years ago! We had both fireplaces going in the beautiful ballroom that accommodated a long rectangular table for the wedding party and eight round tables for guests. There was plenty of room for the buffet table, a band, and dancing on the parquet floor. You have to bring in your own caterer – we hired Ridgewells who did an AMAZING job and really impressed the new in-laws! ;) Plenty of parking on the street. It’s a great place to start some of the best memories of your life!”

“This venue is absolutely stunning. It’s been several months after our wedding and we consistently still have guests telling us how beautiful our ceremony venue was. It has a breathtaking view of the Capitol and is extremely well maintained. We fit our 160 wedding guests under the provided tents for our ceremony with room to spare. Suzanne and the entire staff were a delight to work with and they really saved the day by accommodating us by scheduling a tour and our event very quickly after having our original venue cancel only 5-weeks before the big day.”
“We were invited to dine there, and the experience was delightful. The dining hall was cozy, relaxing, and welcoming. The food was excellent—hats off to the chef! I highly recommend this place if you're seeking a quiet and enjoyable dining experience.”
“I love toolbox Pilates!!! I’ve taken 4 beginner reformer classes now and it’s so much fun and a good challenge. I wish the instructors were doing to exercises along side you, but they’re very good at cueing. The space is just absolutely gorgeous. Love it!!”
“We will never forget our wedding at the City Tavern. The staff were so efficient and the building is one of a kind. Take the history tour if you can, fascinating history went down there.”
“We had an absolute blast at Insomnia Escape Room! We played The Alchemist and found it to be well-designed (and fun!).
The Experience & Difficulty
I’ve done several escape rooms before, and while I’ve seen some reviews complaining about the difficulty, I think it’s very subjective. We were a group of two—and while our daily work involves a lot of analytical thinking, which definitely helped—the key is really just being attentive to detail. It’s a fair challenge! We did ask for three tips during the game, and the response from the staff was lightning-fast.
Location Tips
A heads-up for finding the place: it isn’t on the main Georgetown avenue with all the restaurants, but it's very close by. Keep an eye out for the small Insomnia Escape Room signs and stay alert as you're arriving. It’s a nice spot because once you're finished, you're within easy walking distance of plenty of dinner options.
The Staff
The highlight of our visit, though, was our game hostess, Martina. She was truly the best—so nice, engaging, and high-energy. Her customer service is top-tier and she made the whole experience feel personal and exciting. If you go, definitely ask for her!”
“The Whittemore House really stands out in its well-preserved historic appearance. We spent a lot of time touring modern venues and chose the Whittemore House as its unique decor fit so much better for a cozy fall wedding than the myriads of rooftop gray-box venues available throughout DC.
The venue fees are extremely competitive, as is their in-house catering per-plate and bar per-person costs. We ended up renting the entire venue so that we were able to get ready on site and have plenty of time for our external vendors to come in and get set up. Walter was a great assistance the day of and worked in conjunction with our day-of coordinator to ensure that all the logistics were managed as expected.
We did run into some communication issues during the lead-up to the wedding (unanswered emails / phone calls); however, we had over-planned most of the logistics, so everything was still able to be taken care of to our liking.
We had about 100 guests total. The ballroom space does have 6 columns that break up the space a bit to make seating challenging; however, we were still able to have everybody seated comfortably with a small dance floor at the front of the room with our band. Guests complimented both the venue itself as well as the quality of the food and beverage service.
Overall, for small to mid-sized weddings this is a great choice, especially if you are looking for a cozy and romantic feeling for your event!”
“Lots of family friendly events throughout the year and all sorts of food and food trucks come in to keep the list changing. During the colder months that have a fire pit and a s’more food truck type thing that is pretty cool. Del Mar is a great restaurant down there.”
