Dumbarton Oaks is a Harvard University research institute, library, museum, and gardens located in Washington, DC. The institution is the legacy of Robert and Mildred Bliss, collectors of art and patrons of the humanities. The museum houses world-class collections of Byzantine and Pre-Columbian art. Mildred Bliss created the beautiful historic gardens in close collaboration with renowned landscape designer Beatrix Farrand. Dumbarton Oaks supports research in Byzantine, Pre-Columbian, and Garden and Landscape Studies. I came across this museum by chance while exploring Georgetown, and it turned out to be absolutely wonderful. The music room, in particular, gave me chills the moment I walked in. The staff were very friendly, and the overall quality was incredible, especially considering that admission was free.
