Dupont Underground is a cultural organization that transforms an old trolley station in Dupont Circle into a space for creative expression. The entrance is near Starbucks, and the interior features an old railway track lined with exhibitions and graffiti. The exhibition area is about 100 meters long and includes a small performance stage with seating for up to 200 people. Admission is free, and a visit typically takes 15-20 minutes. Visitors appreciate the unique use of the space, describing it as an incredible place with great potential, though currently only a portion is open. Some reviews mention that the atmosphere feels too clean for an underground space, yet it still offers an interesting experience. The art exhibits and performances are highly regarded, making it a worthwhile stop for those in the area. However, some suggest improvements, such as better signage for the entrance and further development of the lower level. Overall, Dupont Underground is seen as a fascinating addition to the cultural landscape of Washington, D.C.
This is such a cool space hiding under Dupont Circle! Came here for the Common Ground / Common Future exhibit where a bunch of local photographers had works on display. I look forward to seeing more shows here! Worth it just to drop in a see the street art around the perimeter.
