Folger Theatre, located within the Folger Shakespeare Library on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, is an intimate 250-seat Elizabethan-style theater. It specializes in innovative staging of Shakespeare’s plays, other classical works, and new plays inspired by these traditions. Visitors often describe the venue as a beautiful, enchanted space with a unique and cozy atmosphere, perfect for experiencing high-quality productions that are often described as urgent, soulful, and funny. The theater is highly regarded for its imaginative approach to classical theater, making it a go-to place for Shakespeare fans and those interested in classical innovation. The building itself is a showstopper with impressive architecture, and the theater offers a rich experience that combines excellent performances with a charming environment. The upstairs café, while sometimes criticized for being overpriced, adds to the overall experience with its pleasant atmosphere and delicious tea. The museum and library provide a small but meaningful tribute to Shakespeare, making the Folger Theatre a great destination for theater lovers and culture seekers alike.
Visiting the Folger is like stepping back in time to Elizabethan England. You forget you are in present day Washington DC!

It is a great venue. There are exhibits you can visit in the building. The section where I was sitting didn't have the best view, but I did enjoy the performance.
