My favorite author Edwidge Danticat who is Haitian had a list of legit organizations she recommended and Fonkoze was on her list. They are very transparent and sincere! I love reading their newsletter about updates on the people they help and their impact in Haiti.

Fonkoze is a family of organizations (Fonkoze USA in Washington, DC and its two Haitian partners in Haiti) working together to empower the poor across Haiti, primarily rural women, with financial and development services to break the cycle of generational poverty. Hundreds of thousands are empowered every year through Fonkoze's "Staircase Out of Poverty" programs which addresses poverty from various angles (ultra-poverty support, microfinance, access to health services, education, life skills training, and more).
