“What a fun little find in downtown DC! As an artist, I can never resist a good art supply store, so I was thrilled to find a Blick just a short walk from the convention center.
Although the store isn’t huge, it’s packed with an impressive selection of art supplies. Whether you’re looking for something specific or just browsing for inspiration, there’s plenty to explore.
The customer service was wonderful! The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful. They pointed out some of the great specials happening that week and helped me locate a few items I was looking for.
I originally stopped in just to browse with absolutely no intention of buying anything. But as any artist knows, that plan rarely survives a trip to an art supply store! 🤣 Naturally, I left with a few things I suddenly couldn’t live without.
A great little store with a helpful staff and a surprisingly good selection. Definitely worth a visit if you’re an artist in the DC area!”
“So somehow I never actually left a review for game Kastle, despite playing Warhammer there weekly for almost 2 years so here's me rectifying that!
This store is amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming staff, great community, great selection of games (they have so many board games), and a very good selection of paints (at least for Warhammer, don't know about non-wargame applications). The fact that it's a bit out of the way for me coming from Bethesda is outweighed by the fact that it's just an amazing game store. If you're interested in any of the games they hold regular events for, please consider going and supporting them.”
“Mike was so helpful and offered advice. Loved to find everything I needed in one place and he showed us some of the work he's done too! As newer potters it's wonderful not to feel dwarfed in a place or judged for asking new potter questions. Very welcoming space for all levels.”
“A lovely game store with nice staff and people are always here playing various types of games throughout the week!
Bonus: open late 11pm nearly everyday!
It also sells snacks and drinks!”
“Stopped by Second Story Knits recently and it was such a cozy little shop. They have a really nice yarn selection with colors and textures you don’t usually find at big craft stores. Staff was super welcoming and actually took time to help without making it feel rushed. Even if you’re just getting into knitting, the place has a really relaxed and friendly vibe.”
“Mike was the most pleasant and knowledgeable game store employee I've ever met. I went in just to check out a store in a new area and walked out being a fan for life. When a game store employee chats with you for half an hour after you bought something, you know you're in the right place. If you're in Alexandria for any reason at all, you have to go and check out Your Hobby Place.”
“Frank is the absolute best. I walked in and explained that I wanted to gift myself a Perfect Grade RX-93 V-Gundam for my birthday, Frank took my number down and I had it within a week. It's always a pleasure stopping in. And being next to Rocket Fizz is an added plus.”
“My fav lgs , friendly people and players Yu-Gi-Oh on Wednesdays at 7 tournament style , Thursday night mtg commander at 7 , Warhammer on Sunday and occasional DND sessions just ask the owner , not a huge selection of stuff but friendly playgroups although be warned the Yu-Gi-Oh players are GOOD lmao so be prepared for a challenge”
“I was in town and David’s shop was in easy walking distance. Had an extremely nice time, and actually came back a day later. Very knowledgeable and I am very pleased with my purchases. Importantly, while there I saw him interact with a number of other customers. Like me, he treated them with patience and answered all questions in a friendly manner. I hope to get back there!”

“Service here was phenomenal. I recently started getting into card collecting and walking into this place made me so excited. All the staff were super friendly and knowledgeable and I had an amazing experience. Will definitely be coming back here multiple times!”
“The gentleman (very appropriate title in this case) who helped us was very friendly and helpful. He was able to get us a flag for our father’s funeral that day and saved us!! Please consider this business for your flag needs and you won’t be disappointed.”
“Self check out when there is a line is quite interesting...one associate scurries around helping all 5 registers of self checkout...the line gets longer, finally they call someone to help...and I buy my three items and leave...I believe those five customers are still trying to self checkout”
“First time in this Michaels and I was impressed. This store has two floors for shopping. We bought some art coloring accessories. The store looked fully stocked. We easily found items at their designated aisles and sections. The party and birthday accessories were fully stocked. The staff was friendly and attended us professionally.”
“Went there to get some fabric medium and couldn't find any. Brianna took the time to look for it. Couldn't find any for that brand, so she was able to find another brand. It's been a long time since an employee had gone all out to help me. Great job Brianna!”
“Yesterday was my birthday and my girlfriend took me here.
Had no idea what I was doing but knew I wanted some pokemon cards.
Minnie (I’m so sorry I don’t know how to spell his name) spent about 30 minutes helping us and chatting with us. He was so kind and really just elevated the experience. Thank you for helping make a birthday great!”
“Though this is a much smaller Michael’s than the ones I usually go to (in Northern VA) I did find what I was looking for (Classic Cotton in twine). Pricing info was missing for several yarns I browsed (no signage or stickers). I’m giving an extra star because of friendly staff member.”
“This Michael's is great. Never have any issues. Been there many times and always able to get whatever I go in for. Store is clean and everyone that works there has been friendly.”
“Allen was so professional and helpful with me today! He helped me trade in some consoles and games and the whole process was easy and went super quick! Will definitely be back again!”

“Erick is a top flight dealer in rare coins and currency. I highly recommend him as an advisor and as someone who'll always give you a square deal!👍”
“The store manager was amazing and provided my boys with a very fun crafting activity today. We look forward to shopping more at this location to do my creative activities!”
“I had a wonderful experience custom framing here! Master framers Christopher F., Johanna G., and Liliana R. all helped me frame two pieces that were really important to me and did an incredible job. I highly recommend going here to custom frame ANYTHING!!!”

“Awesome service, the people helping me find things were so nice and helpful. The game section where we tried out games was so much fun and is where I got some of my favorite games.”
