Motel 6 Washington, DC - Convention Center is a budget, no-frills motel in the Union Market district. It is described as an old school, real US motel and is the cheapest option in town. The location is quite close to monuments and is in an amazing district with interesting shops, cafes, and useful restaurants nearby. A key convenience is the free parking right outside your room. The rooms are found to be big, clean, comfortable to sleep, and quiet by some, with good hot showers and operable lamps. However, experiences vary. Other reviews note uncomfortable beds, old and damaged linens, and furniture and doors that are barely working. Issues mentioned include a bathroom sink or bathtub that does not drain properly, spotty or unusably slow Wi-Fi, a noisy air conditioner, and a broken ice machine. Noise isolation is poor, with sounds heard from the road, hallways, and other rooms. Service receives mixed feedback. The front office staff are noted as nice, friendly, and providing good service, though one check-in required knocking at the office back door. Door cards stopping working frequently is reported. Cleaning staff are described negatively by some. While there are no bed bugs, a dead cockroach was found. The motel lacks amenities like shampoo, body wash, a kettle, coffee maker, fridge, and safe. The surrounding area is suggested to be unsafe at night. For travelers needing just an affordable place to sleep and shower while out most of the day, it can serve its purpose.

Employees were very polite but the state of the hotel leaves to desire. Don’t bother coming here there are some alternatives for about the same price. The only upside was the proximity to the metro station and shops but even then it’s at the whole end of the neighborhood
