Absolutely amazing experience! I almost never write reviews, but this place was so incredible that I had to this time.We went on a Friday night and did the 7-course tasting menu and drink pairing at the chef's counter. I'm sure it's not part of the experience every time, but it actually turned into about a 9-course tasting because they served some extras not on the menu that they were excited to share. Every aspect was incredible.Starting off, before we even arrived, with personalized contact from Brian to ensure that they knew everything from our names, if it was special occasion, dietary restrictions, etc. It was clear they wanted to make sure it was a special experience for us before we even stepped foot in the restaurant.On arrival the environment was incredible and the whole staff was friendly and consistently went out of their way to make the evening memorable.The food was, of course, incredible. But even more enjoyable was the detailed explanation of both the food we were being served and the wine choices for pairing. We learned a lot about how they prepared the food, where the ingredients were locally sourced from, etc. Not only was it informative, but their true passion for the quality of what they were serving really shined through.Just as top notch as the food, the service was incredible. They were true professionals that knew exactly how to strike the balance between being highly attentive without interfering with our date. The pacing of the servings was absolutely spot on. We neither had to wait between courses nor had courses stacking up. Everything was executed flawlessly.Hands down the best dining experience I've ever had. Great food, great environment, and absolutely exceptional service. We will be back for sure and will enthusiastically recommend it to anyone seeking a top-notch dining experience. Extremely well done!

Do not miss this gem! We were welcomed warmly upon arrival. Our table was at the window, and we were lucky to have sunlight on this fine morning. Our service was impeccable. And the chef's Playlist was spot on to create a fun brunch.Fresh ingredients are paramount. There are herbs grown in the elevated pots outside the building. You can taste it in every bite. The menu descriptions do not do the offerings justice- the flavors and tastes are so much more and words can describe!We started with a blackberry mimosa. Fresh blackberries reduced to a syrup and served with bubbles. We may have split not 1 but 2 carafes. Yes. Its that good. Also sharing our table was a bloody Mary. She was later coming to the party as the Fresh tomatoes were being blended and puree made. Married with fresh horseradish and other magical infusions. Normally a heavier drink that is full of salt. Nope. This drink was light and tasted of fresh tomatoes and horseradish which was present but not overbearing. Yes. Worth ordering again (which happened this same meal)To start, the deviled eggs. '"Creamy and dreamy" And yes, they were. Just get them. The little bits of pickle atop makes for a small textural crunch and a small zing of taste.The breakfast burrito. Look at that beauty! Porkbelly with fresh ingredients. A little added house made hot sauce and salsa. I dont know what to say. Delightful!Croque madame. The ham used was of superior quality. The freshness of the egg shone through- and look how that yolk has a beautiful color and stands firm. This is about as fresh as it gets. Perfectly toasted. And paired with greens that boast a tangy dressing. But mixed all in one bite is heavenly.The veggie hash. Looked amazing! And it was gone before I was able to taste or get a review. Apparently quite popular and delicious!And lastly the desserts. The apple pie. So good, I'm bringing 2 of them with me on my flight home.Madeline's- who doesnt love these? Lightly crisp outside, soft lemon-y inside. ? the cinnamon roll bread pudding was excellent. I'm not a huge bread pudding fan, but the cinnamon flavor (sans raisins) was a-maze-ing. Lastly the creme puff. Honestly, these should be illegal. O.M.G. Crisp, light pastry. Swirl of vanilla bourbon creme in the middle, surrounding some blueberry curd. Wow. Speechless. Just wow. Ger one. Or 5.And for a late night delight, stop into the bar. Order a cocktail made to your order. You won't be disappointed. I had a chocolate martini- and chose my vodka, light or dark chocolate liquor, butterscotch addition.Spend some time at Shilling Canning Company. The freshness can be tasted in every bite. The welcoming environment ensures I'll be back!

I don’t do this often but I can’t believe this restaurant has been around for 5 years and I just ate there for the first time. I just inhaled all the food it was incredible the couple that own the restaurant are so hospitable! Try the Chicken Ballentine (sp?) and Butterscotch if they are serving it.

Discovered this place during restaurant week last August and just keep coming back. I’ve probably had the entire menu at this point and it’s always incredible food in an intimate, friendly setting.

Great place for brunch! Had a range of cocktails and menu selections for people with varied palettes. Also in a great location near the water and the baseball stadium.

My friends and I went for restaurant week and had a wonderful experience. Our server, Jonathan, was bright and lovely. Each delicious course came with a thorough description of each element, down to the source. The pacing was perfect and each dish was truly lovely- balanced, interesting, and comforting. They even brought out some yummy cookies to cap out meal. I waited too long to dinner here, but will absolutely be back for brunch or to sit at the bar for some tuna tartare ( as was heartily recommended).

This place is awesome. Food is always fabulous. Great rotating menu and friendly/knowledgeable staff. The perfect place for a romantic date night or large group dinner.I still dream of the rhubarb dessert from last year. Forgot to take a picture of the food but you can tell he was happy after the meal.Parking: Usually we find a spot out front but there are two lots nearby

My husband and I spent New Year’s Eve at the chefs table. Chef Reid and Chef Chris made our night unforgettable. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was incredible. The staff went out of their way to make us feel special and share their knowledge with us. We are excited to come back and try their brunch menu!

This is likely the 10th or so time we've been to Shilling and the entire there is amazing. Amazing service, amazing food, amazing knowledge of the menu...all being served up by the friendliest and most professional staffs I've encountered in Washington, DC! I wish the Shilling team continued success, more growth in 2024, and a restful holiday season as you've all earned it!

The only thing Michelin star about this restaurant is the service. Our server (Nuri) was really nice and accommodating. Food was decent but portion sizes were lacking and options were limited. The deviled eggs were good but the portion was extremely small. The shrimp and grits were good as well, but only had 4 small shrimp in them. There were only 3 cocktails outside of a mimosa. Only juice options were orange and cranberry. Also, I was really excited to try the apple cider donut that is on their online menu, but it was not on the menu inside. Even with that, I would have been content, however, they need to figure out a way to accurately display their service charge. The bill said 22% but when calculated the service charge was actually a little over 24%. Our total bill was $83 -- our service charge was $20.09. Not a big deal, but it would be nice to know exactly what I am being charged. I asked to speak to the manager to explain the difference and the bartender came over and said she's the manager too. She said it's because of the liquor tax that is not shown on the bill. Shouldn't every charge be shown on a bill to the customer?! Overall, a very average experience while celebrating a birthday.

The fried chicken dish was divine. The cornbread that comes with it really impressed me. Service was phenomenal. Only thing lame is gratuity of 22% is added. Otherwise great experience

Did the tasting menu with wine pairings. Stellar. This kitchen is creative and executing like few kitchens are in the greater DC area. Innovative, delicious, perfectly prepared, service impeccable. Hat tip to Conner the sommelier. Great job with pairings. Incredible evening. Definitely returning.

When we first sat down our waiter let us know that their motto was ‘maximum effort for the best experience’ and they did not disappoint. Everyone was so nice and attentive, the food was incredible, and we got great pictures. 10/10 recommend.

My mom and I dined at Shilling Canning Co. in September and loved it! We were excited for the fall menu. Last week, the food was definitely not the same quality and the waiter was a pain. The over explanation of every dish was annoying and too much. Salad waste acidic - a sprinkle of sea salt and a little less dressing would have been an easy fix. Lamb and veggies too black. Onion soup too reduced. Such a different experience from out first. Don't think at the price point we'll risk another chance.
