We enjoyed the docent led tour of this house . We purchased tickets to tour this house and the Amstel House at the visitor center near the Dutch House. This modest Dutch building is an excellent example of how a trades person would have lived during the 1600s. The house, furnishings and history were very interesting.

I am so happy this home survived centuries. It is amazing to walk where so many lived their lives so long ago. The tour was fabulous. The staff member who gave the tour has lived her entire life in New Castle and her mother before her. I loved her stories and appreciation for all things Delaware.

The Dutch House is well-preserved and is in the old, historic section of New Castle. We weren't able to go inside, but you can tour the garden in back and peek in the window. Included the hexoganl library museum building which is nearby.

We enjoyed visiting the Dutch House on a double tour with the Amstel House, shortly after we toured the Read House, and you should visit all three. the Dutch and Amstel House can be booked through a tour at the Arsenal, while the Read House is a separate price charged at the house itself. The Dutch House is the oldest of the three, built in the 17th century. On the tour, you get to see the three rooms on the lower level, and get an interesting history of the home and the people who have lived there, including the mistakes made about the home's history over time. The tour guide was exceptional and brought the home alive.

This is a small house but packed full of New Castle history. Knowledgeable tour guide. I've toured quite a bit of historic buildings and heard some things I had never heard anywhere else.

A great and unqiue house with a rare look at colonial dutch heritage in America. It's small be worth taking a guided tour to enrich your understanding of the site. The back kitchen area has a lot of interesting items not seen in mnay houses of that time period on the east coast. You can purchase a ticket for a tour at the Vistor Center at the Aresenal. We Paired it with a visit to the the New Castle Court House and Jessop's Tavern for dinner.
