After losing my husband I had to visit Social Security.. From the time I walked up the stairs to the 2nd floor I was greeted by a nice guard.. Then a lady who took my info. The last step was filing.. I could have never gotten through this but this woman was so caring...kind & supportive and definitely the personality to work with the public. Thank you SS for all of your help........

Was here at 11am on Monday 1/22/24 and it was closed without any information on the door or their website. Website showed it’s open. This is crazy, someone is failing here n need to be fired.

They took back a payment my husband was entitled to while he was alive & he had spent on monthly bills, then they proceed the next month to take it from the widows bank acct 6 days after his funeral. Called 800, they sent refund form & said bring your ID to local office for the reversal of this error. Went to local office, waited 1.5hrs, was asked for a marriage certificate which i didnt bring and the form doesn’t even say it is required. So they refused to accept the form w/o it.Now I have to return to go through this all over again. Albeit 14 days after losing my husband. So much for allowing me to grieve him.Workers just make up stuff as they go along & just to annoy the people who need these benefits the most & to make themselves feel like they are in power. Which they are to the most vulnerable. Disgusting & Horrible experience!

Phone call was deliberately hung up on after waiting 1/2. Phone picked up, then hung up. When I did finally get through, an unnecessary referral to the regional facility for scheduling was done. Eyes unnecessary hurdle. Seems that's how it's done at the New Castle branch.

This office staff is absolutely HORRIBLE. It took so long to fight for my 4 year old autistic grandson to obtain benefits and these incompetent folks claim this child is getting child support from a GHOST.I filed an appeal online on Nov 2, 2023 @ 10:16 am. As I am aware how they lose documents and blame it on the system so I mailed a hard copy to them plus left a message for the worker the same day. Please note: I attached documentation from Child Support Services that there were no such case. As you are aware when you file an appeal you have the option to continue receiving the same payment, but tell me why there was a deduction today?I thank God I keep good records and I want to hold these folks accountable for their incompetence. It is ridiculous all of the nonsense you have to go through with them. The money that was due to my grandson was not in the account and do you know I had to call the worker because she didn't have an alert or reminder so of course we had to wait for payment even longer. Imagine if I never called to follow up. Absolutely ridiculous! These people can't be taking no test or whatever the government does to approve them for a job because something is seriously wrong in this office. I am ready to do a petition or go to the State Reps office even report it to the News.

It took less than a half hour. However, all I needed was my social security card. For anything beyond that, it seems to be a long wait.

2 HOUR wait today, couldn’t stay longer so will have to go through another extended wait. They don’t allow appointments for name change after marriage which doesn’t seem right and the staff on the phone was anything but helpful.

I wish I could give it less than that. What an awful place. I’ve been calling since 9am and it’s now after 1pm. Each time I’ve called I’ve been on a 30 minute hold and when the phone finally starts to ring someone picks up and prompt hangs right up. It wasn’t enough that my SS card was stolen, your office had to be the worst too

I had questions about my SS record and about timing my application for benefits. I was not able to get the answers online or by phone and was discouraged from making an appointment or walking in, though it was suggested I could try to be at the office at opening time. I showed up at 9 am and, although there was already a line, I was greeted warmly by officers who were cheerful and courteous. After a brief wait, I was directed to a kiosk with staff at the ready to help with sign-in, the process was very well organized and streamlined and my one-on-one meeting was extremely helpful. I learned important information that I had not known about and that had critical bearing on timing my benefit start date. Very impressive staff and operation.

Unbelievable. Put you on hold minimum 20 min. Answer the phone, pretend they don't hear you and immediately hang up

Let's be real. it's a Federal agency. Probably underpaid, definitely understaffed. Have had to go back 3 times in 5 weeks and may finally have it correct. Phone system is terrible. On the phone, they are 75% useless. In person, better but it goes bad beyond the office. By now they should have updated systems and be able to print and take care of multiple issues at the local level. BUT, they can't and don't. Fix the systems and process and most likely that would fix many delays and complaints.
