Absolutely terrible customer service. Employees need training on how to deal with customers. It’s not the end of the world if someone asks a question. They don’t even bother to be helpful.

Horrible. Went to the bank to verify funds for a home purchase. Funds were in two accounts. When it came time to transfer the money for the purchase, I was told I could not transfer out of both accounts on the same day! Why didn't the person that I worked with to verify the funds tell me this was going to be a problem. This pushes the closing date back by 10 days!

Today approximately 9:30am on, September 2, 2024 my husband & I took our daughter to the bank to cash her check because, she didn’t have an account there. Also our intention was to open an account for her. When we went in the two tellers were not pleasant at all to begin with. We asked if she could could cash her check and they said no! Now we knew we could deposit her check in our account but, when we asked out of respect for them they replied no! Now mind you, I was with my bf who is Caucasian a couple of days ago with her daughter and she deposited her daughter’s check in her account and there was no problem with that same teller. Now I’m feeling we are being racially profiled. When asked to speak to a manager another head teller I believe took a look at our account and the check and said “I don’t see the problem and she deposited the check. One teller just walked off as if she didn’t see us. The other kept looking at our account like she’s in disbelief. Then she came up with the excuse that policies change all the time. My point is if you weren’t sure why wouldn’t you check instead of blatantly telling us no? We try to avoid this branch because, they’ve always been very unfriendly. We definitely DO NOT want her to open an account here. We took her to Bank of America to open her checking. We are seriously thinking about moving our accounts as well. This is not acceptable.

I would rate this bank a minus 10 if I could. This is by far below anything I've ever experienced. I gifted my daughter a bank official check from another institution for her closing / settlement of her new home. She immediately deposited it into M&T to be available for closing. Then all hell broke loose. They blocked her account, blocked nline banking access and transferred her to financial crimes. Check deposited 5/13/23 To date 5/24, still on hold. We visited the branch, provided statements as proof of origin, no one tried to help. We called customer service, they treated her like a criminal. I visited my bank where the check was issued, they called M&T, verified the check, STILL ON HOLD. All of my daughter's auto payments from her account are being returned with fees. No help from M&T. Unbelievable, this is an official check. What happened to bank to bank verification? M &T already k ows this check is good. This has to be a profiling situation, no other explanation makes sence. OMG her account is still blocked, absolutely no help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Used my husbands debit card at this atm on 12/31.. bank lost power in the middle of the transaction & the atm ate the card. I called the bank & left a message.. the next business day (1/2) I received a phone call stating they had the card & my husband can pick it up with I.d… when my husband went to pick it up on 1/3 & he was informed per their policy that they destroy the bank card if you do not bank with m&t.. Talk about inconvenient & clearly their employees NEED training. WORST BANK EVER! Avoid using this bank & their ATM.

WORST BANK EVER!!!! REFUSED TO CASH OR DEPOSIT A CHECK THAT WAS ISSUED TO ME BY A LAW FIRM THAT HAS AN ACCOUNT WITH M&T BANK!!!!! THIS IS AT THE SUBURBAN PLAZA LOCATION!!!! ( Kathy and her Supervisor)

The drive thru banking in Suburban Plaza is the WORST. Today i sat for 30 min waiting to get a check cashed. I heard the lady beside me tell the teller she had been waiting for 1 hour and 15 min. I think there was a problem with one of the drive thrus but still every time i go there which is once a month it's the same. Waiting and waiting and waiting. Its ridiculous. Do the tellers who work the drive thru also help customers inside? What is the problem. ????
