About Drago (Harry’s) Pond
Drago (Harry’s) Pond is a versatile outdoor area that offers a peaceful setting for nature lovers and families alike. Visitors can enjoy a short walk around the pond, which is fenced and provides a good view, along with some exercise stations—though not all are operational and some are outdated. The pond attracts a variety of waterfowl, especially from late October to early April, including Hooded Mergansers, Ruddy Ducks, Ring-necked Ducks, and Buffleheads that dive underwater for food. Dabbling ducks like Mallards and American Black Ducks are also common, along with year-round visitors such as Belted Kingfishers and Northern Mockingbirds. For families, there is a playground and a nearby parking area, making it a convenient spot for small children and dog walks. Once a horse race track and then a fun indoor entertainment space, the pond now serves as a lovely spot for birdwatching, strolling, and enjoying nature’s quiet beauty.
