“Okay, so Walgreens AS A COMPANY - not great. 😂 Hear me out, I called 4 times total - spoke to someone in a call center, and was told “your prescription is in progress, set for auto refill”. Then I called the automated line twice - “in progress we will contact you when it’s ready”. Then - call center again “hmm, it’s not in progress and I don’t see why…” so I ask to speak to someone that’s actually AT my pharmacy location. I get transferred. I’m placed on hold without being greeted. Then picked up, asked to hold and given no time to respond. Then picked up, placed on hold again. At this point I hang up, load my toddler in the car and DRIVE to Walgreens. I’m sure you’re thinking - why did this lady give them 4 stars?! Well, let me tell you WHY. Nancy!!! I get there and see a line from the pharmacy halfway down the aisle into the store. Okay, I see why I was placed on hold indefinitely. I wait with my rambunctious toddler. We finally get up the front and an associate starts to look into my prescription (which the phone people said was in progress Monday and still isn’t ready on Thursday). Some kind of system error. Enter Nancy! She’s swamped. The other two associates at the register both needing her for help. She’s smiling, calm, and engaging with my toddler while also solving all of Walgreens issues. She looked into the issue, talked to the pharmacist, corrected the issue, and asked me to please give her 15 minutes to have it ready! Uhm, that’s the least I could do Nancy - THANK YOU! I came back in exactly 15 minutes, she addressed me immediately and said it was almost done. Called me up a moment or two later and apologized for my wait. 🥹 The waits are insane everywhere these days. Staff everywhere seem to be either brand new, short handed, or overworked (and probably underpaid - hence the turnover) but they are also usually rude and grumpy (not that I blame them given the circumstances). Not Nancy. Nancy was friendly, kind, knowledgeable, courteous, and really reminded me that excellent customer service is still possible. Truly a breath of fresh air. So thank you Nancy, for making Walgreens worth the trouble today. Hope to see you again next month!”

The Iowa retailer, the third-largest convenience store operator in the country, built its new three-year plan around three priorities: store growth, food and beverage expansion, and kitchen technology upgrades. The company plans to add 120 stores during the current fiscal year. Its previous plan, launched in 2023, delivered more than 500 new stores and earned the company a spot in the S&P 500.
