Dr. Scott is the best!! I’m actually surprised I’ve never thought to give this office a raving review before. Today while I was there and Dr. Scott and the staff were helping me assure quality of life for my 20 year old cat I was so appreciative that I wanted to make sure they know how much we appreciate this office. My family has been using Animal Clinic of Brandon for over 20 years. When I was a teen my mom used them for our family pet and as adults both myself and my brother continue to use them for our own pets. I’ve tried a couple other vet offices closer to my current home just for convenience purposes and I always end up disappointed so I always come back. I drive out of my way for Dr. Scott. He has helped me save my pets many times and extend their lives. He is very down to earth and helps me care for my animals without pushing any unnecessary expenses on me. The office also accepts care credit which is very helpful. I have 4 pets so being able to use care credit when I need to is a relief. We’ve also had visits with the other vets in the office and they have always been very kind and knowledgeable as well. Thank you! -Latisha T.

Just took my dog there for a checkup. Only reason I gave 2 stars is most staff was kind. Waiting over an hour with a terrified dog, just doesn't make sense. On top of that, they charge us $50 more than what they said over the phone. Then to tell us, the the estimate wasn't written? Very unprofessional. Won't go there again.

Don't take your pets here if you want good quality care beyond the yearly check up. The vets here are not thorough enough for real concerns. My dog has been there 3 times in 3 weeks with no resolution or real help. She is now being hospitalized (with a different, more trusted vet) for severe ALL OVER infection that could have been prevented if the vets at ACOB had done basic testing and had not dismissed my concerns by saying the issue would "resolve on its own."

10/2023 BEWARE of DR DARECK DESHIELDS! He was NEGLIGENT in the CARE of my dog after her dental cleaning!!and now my dog is DEAD. I've been bringing my healthy 12 year old toy poodle Joybell to Dr. Scott at Animal Clinic of Brandon for over 10 years for check ups/shots/lab work/yearly dental cleanings. I have always been happy with the care Joybell received until this time. MY DOG IS DEAD!!! SHE DIED A HORRIBLE DEATH LESS THAN 24 HOURS at Animal Hospital of Brandon due to aspiration during dental cleaning.I picked Joybell up around 3pm, wheezing and breathing not normal. I immediately asked Doris (front desk woman) WHY is my dog breathing this way? She said "she's ok, you're picking her up earlier than you normally do and she's older now it may taker her a little longer with the anesthesia". While waiting in an exam room, Doris walks by and stops and AGAIN I ask, WHY IS MY DOG BREATHING LIKE THIS? She asks me, do you want me to take her back? I said, no. I thought she meant take her back and put her in a kennel because it was upsetting me listening to her breathe all weird.Tech Jessica comes in to discharge Joybell, I immediately ask her why is Joybell breathing like this and she says, she's older now it may take her a little longer with the anesthesia and you are picking her up earlier than you normally do. Jessica told me Joybell was hypothermic (body temp below normal) when was brought out of surgery, and she was put on a warmer. She also told me there was a trach incident when Joybell was waking up when the trach was being removed, she said she jerked her head which caused the trach to pull and come out faster so her throat might be scratched or she may cough some due to it. No one seemed alarmed by the way Joybell was breathing, so I just told myself they are the professionals and maybe I am overacting.Joybell was my first dog, and my best friend, she was little but she was fierce, she didn't deserve to die like that. She was healthy, she had no health issues her whole life. I bought her as a 3 month old puppy, she never left my side. She slept with me, she went to work with me everyday, greeted all my patients; they loved her and she loved them. My heart is broken.I had a in person meeting with Dr. DeShields a few days later. He was not even aware of the trach incident because he was not there when Joybell was being brought around from the anesthesia. I also learned he did not perform the dental cleaning but a tech did, he played the role of anesthesiologist. He said he did not examine her before she was discharged, so he had NO IDEA what really was going on with my dog. He kept referring to his trusted techs doing the work, and he said "I don't know" so many times I wanted to throw up. He also played the race card by saying "you don't like me, do you". This guy is a JOKE. If ANY smart vet or vet tech would have just listened, STOPPED and just LISTENED to Joybell breathing they would have detected something was NOT RIGHT!!! Bottom line is THEY DON'T CARE. Dr. DeShields DOESN'T CARE! He cares about that $600 he got for his vet tech doing the cleaning! IF he cared he would have come out and examined Joybell after I made THREE loud complaints about her breathing. Dr. DeShields said to my face "I am not culpable". I also found out in my discussion withDr. DeShields that "take her back" means "have the vet examine your dog". What a joke. And the cherry on the top is I didn't even receive sympathy card from Animal Clinic of Brandon, but I did from FETCH ER.The critical care doctor at FETCH ER couldn't get over how a vet would just leave "gaping holes" in a dogs mouth after removing large teeth, he said he'd never seen that. This is not how a veterinarian behaves that claims to be "passionate" about what he does. Did I also tell you he purchased Animal Clinic of Brandon in 2021 and he is also the Medical Director.

I called on a Wednesday at 4pm. They had a cancellation for 9am the next morning!Bonus points for offering that to us! Boz, my 113lb tripod rottweiler, was having a skin issue. So not an appointment I wanted to wait on. We were taken to the "big" room. Much appreciated for this big boy. Jessica was in with us moments later, right on the floor with him. We talked about the current issue and some other concerns I was having. She was comforting, assuring and attentive. She listened to everything that this long winded woman had to say and asked about. Then Dr. Deshields came in to join us. Boz does love this man, I'm sure! Everytime we see him he makes him feel better! Doris was as pleasant as can be. Confirming the meds I was leaving with and setting our well care checkup appointment. We love this place❣️Sorry about all the hair we left behind.

This is a wonderful veterinarian clinic. They truly are concerned about our fur babies well being. They are compassionate, empathetic, they truly care. They even work with you on prices for the care being given at the time of our visit. we are on a fixed income and they worked so fairly due to our needs. Which was alot. They also give you a discount for multiple fur babies being seen at one time. . I will be establishing my fur babies care and well being with them from now on. They even clipped both of my babies nails for free. I know of no one who will take this extra time to do that and for free. I hope this review helps someone who is looking for a great veterinarian and amazing staff technicians 5 stars all the way. With paws ? of our hearts, Thank you, Cookie and Bentley
