I wish I knew this employee's name. He was amazing in helping my son with what he needed. I live in Lakeland and will travel an hour to go here.

I am still shocked… I’m 72 years old and just experienced the worst customer service in my life including being verbally abused by the Brandon Hobby Town store manager.I wanted to purchase a $899 RC radio. As some Hobby Town franchisees offer a discount to members of AMA, the national RC flying club, I called one Hobby Town location that does offer the discount but did not have the model I wanted in stock. I called another HobbyTown location who had the radio, but did not offer the AMA discount. I called the Brandon store and talked with a fine young man who was very helpful and polite as he confirmed he had the radio in stock and he put me on hold, to talk to someone to confirm that his store would honor the AMA discount on the specific radio I wanted. I drove 1.5 hours round trip to purchase the radio.I went to the register to purchase the radio and was told that the discount would not be honored. I asked for the store manager to discuss the situation. In front of both the store manager and myself and others, the fine young man from my phone call confirmed he had in fact told me the discount would be honored, but that he had made a mistake, for which he sincerely apologized. To me that is Aok and I told him so. We all make mistakes…I asked the manager to honor the discount and he refused.I asked to speak with the owner by phone, the manager refused.I asked for my gas to be reimbursed, he refused. My demeanor was calm and non-threatening throughout the entire conversation, I did not raise my voice, or in any way confront anyone, in any way. The manager did not like that I told him this was poor customer service… the manager apologized but displayed anger when I told him that his apology was “insincere” if he did not make this situation “right.”In our discussion the manger told me to “f—-k myself” (he used the full f-word) to “get f——ed” (again using the full f-word.). He called me “childish” and he called me a “retard.” The manager never physically threatened me, but the verbal assault was incredible…The manager told me to leave and instructed his employee to call the police.I refused to leave as I wanted police to come to see if I had an option to press charges against the manager for the verbal abuse he directed at me in front of others.I am now purchasing the radio from either of two retailers with discount, and will never enter this Hobby Town location again.Retailing is not easy, and much to my dismay, the world has seemed to become so rude and un-kind. I respect the original “fine young man” very much for his integrity and fine attitude, and I hope the manager can be effectively educated including training in customer sensitivity and anger management.

I drove 3 hours round trip friday, Saturday and Sunday. I am putting together a cloud 0.5 paraglider from a German company. I came to this store for radio and electronic motors and servos help. All I asked was please help me sync the radio to the plane. The supposed 'expert', that I called and verified was here before driving another 3 hour round trip, said he doesn't know anything about spektrum products and wasnt willing to help accomplish this project. The best he or anyone else in this store could say was reach out to a person in Sarasota(another 1.5hr drive 1 way) but you can only reach him by email, but I don't have the email. This place is does not have anyone with basic knowledge of the products they sell. They aren't helpful. This is why I will go online shopping. I hate saying that but at least I'll get someone with knowledge. Now I'm sick with over $200 of radios and servos I can't use or return.

I purchased an electric race track. Erica was awesome. I had to also buy an electric adapter to convert the track from battery to electric. We found the adapter and Erica worked with me to ensure it was the right adapter and it fit the track before selling me the track and adapter. Excellent customer service.

I bought an engine for my nitro truck come to find out it was used and missing parts. Then the associate blamed me and would not return the item that I had for less than 24 hours. You would expect better spending 250$ for a part. The customer service was terrible. I will never buy anything here again

I love this place. 1. They have the good stuff that nobody else stocks. All the products I want Brandon Hobby Town has. Knowledgeable staff also makes a difference! ALSO PRICES are not marked up because they have items that others do not like many other retailers do

Just came into town from Boston, for vacation.I brought my RC car to have a little fun and went to a skatepark, bashed it, broke it and found this place not too far from the place where i am staying. This place has great staff, very knowledgeable, and has lots of parts in stock. They got me up and running in minutes. ??Prices are what they are and in my eyes whoever said they are pricey must not know what they are doing. Parts are fairly cheap unless labor is the issue. I've been to the rc store numerous times and never spent more than 40 unless getting tires or a shell. And I've broken all gears, drive shafts, control arms, shocks, even servos. If you are in the r/c world stop by and check this place out.

I've been in several HobbyTown locations but the one in Brandon (FL) is the best I've ever been in bar none by orders of magnitude. Your wallet will despair and the many things you find appealing there. They have it all - puzzles, legos, various collectables, RC, models, trains, planes, and automobiles, slotted, unslotted, just cool scientific experimentation kits (roller coaster design kit was one of my favs), tools, and of course enough paints in colors of the rainbow and beyond to turn anything into any color you can fathom - you name it they got it. Wonderful place staffed with helpful people.

Great selection of models and paints. The store had all the paints on my list which allowed me to complete several modelling projects. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I'll be back.
