Mia/Maya was so amazing!! She helped me find a last minute top for me and my mom to go see Billie Eilish!!!! She was able to stock new clothes, give us recommendations, check out other customers, all while being a fantastic salesperson. As a retail manager, THIS is the kind of employee you want working for you and deserves recognition. Thank you for all your help!

I was with my mother shopping the other night and i asked an associate about gauges and the associate didnt know about gauges and so she asked who im assuming is her manager (she had a bunch of facial piercings and greenish brown hair) and the associate said her manager (the one with the piercings) knows more about gauges so when she asked the manager, the manager turns around and snaps at her coworker saying âwhat!!!â And was ultimately rude to not only the associate but to me and my mother. there were several instances while i was in the store where i saw her on her phone but definitely tried to hide it and act like nothing happened. overall unprofessional and just made the experience and vibe in the store unwelcoming

Not the greatest experience with the cashier. Didnât catch her name but she has short curly brown hair with faded color streaks. When I brought my purchases up to the counter, she rung up my two items and just as I was paying I commented that I forgot to ask for my military discount. She asked if the payment went through and I said yes. She then said âthen itâs too late.â I asked if she could reverse the transaction then run it again. She sighed heavily and said âyou want to return them then rerun it?â I said âyeah, if it only takes a minute, if itâs a long process then donât worry about it.â (Keep in mind she could have said it would take 5+ minutes) She rolled her eyes and said âno itâs fine, Iâll return it.â While she was reversing the transaction, she had a very annoyed look on her face and made me feel I was inconveniencing her. Mind you there were only 2 other people in the store and they werenât in line to check out yet. Half way through she said âthe money may not come back to your account for a few days, is that ok?â I said âyes, thatâs fine. Iâm aware that pending charges can take a few days to fall off depending on the bank.â (I work with customer transactions in my own job) She didnât improve her attitude. I get it, kind of. It was one more step for her to do. Also, it was 4th of July, the mall was pretty dead, stores were closing up early and in this economy, I was still choosing to spend my money here. However, it was clearly an inconvenience to her for a veteran to ask her to take 2 extra minutes to save a few dollars. On 4th of July. I donât want her to be fired, but maybe look into customer service engagement, appreciation and how to build rapport with customers training sessions.

Iâve shopped at Hot Topic for years, but this last experience was frustrating. I asked about a military or veterans discount, and the employee told me they only offer it to active dutyânot veterans. When I asked why, they said it was because of tariffs, which honestly made no sense and felt like a weak excuse.
As a veteran, itâs disappointing to see a company go out of its way to exclude those who have served. Most places I shop at recognize both active and former service members, so this really stood out in a bad way.
On top of that, the store was messy, and the staff didnât seem too interested in helping. I waited around just to ask a simple question. Between the strange excuse and the poor service, I donât see myself coming back anytime soon.

I never write reviews but after having way too many horrible experiences at the Lakeland hot topic with their grouchy staff, I just had to. We bypassed our hot topic and went to Brandon. These employees are top notch. They even called me yesterday to invite us to a party with new merch drops in their store on Saturday. They are so friendly. We will drive the extra 20 minutes to Brandon from now on
