It’s very educational though not big. It covers a variety of topics from the history of Destin, fishing and rodeo, scuba diving, sea shells and more. It’s definitely worth visiting. Plenty of interactive displays for children.

I grew up in Destin and moved away. I never really thought about visiting here until my husband and I came for a two week trip to visit things we haven't seen before. This is a wonderful experience for vacationers. I love how it teaches the founding of Destin and the history of fishing in this area. My dad won the Spanish Mackerel division of the fishing rodeo in the 70s and I am going to send them a copy to add to their displays. They have the museum from donations and run it with volunteers. You can spend hours here. There are things for kids to do too-interactive things. I bought a shirt while there. Also, visit the first ever post office on property. I hear a lot of people complain when it rains in Destin they need something to do. This is the thing to do!

Such a cute little museum that offers all the history you need to understand how Destin Florida was established.

This place maybe small on the outside but, don't let that fool you. This place holds quite a bit on the inside and it's quite impressive. There is an admission fee but, it's quite reasonable and well worth it. There is street and private parking in the back of the building. This is definitely a family friendly place to go to, rather it's raining or if you're looking for something to do if it's just an adult trip. We opted to do the scavenger hunt for a prize which I thought was fun and challenging. We had a guide at the beginning to give us history lessons on the museum and pretty much Destin itself. It's quite surprising what you can learn here and I'm thankful for our guide giving us a lesson, you will even learn how Destin gets it's white sand and so much more. We even got the little red flash lights for sea turtles that the city of Destin is giving away for free and spring time is nesting time for them. There is a small building off to the side where the old boats are and it's actually an old post office, very neat. Now the scavenger hunt did take time, however I found it to be fun and quite the learning experience. It consisted of finding hidden items in plain sight and so much more. Not gonna reveal what prize we got at the end. This was probably the most fun we had learning going to a museum. Our guide at the end recommended some tourist guides and places to eat and things to do in Destin. This little museum holds a lot of history and is definitely worth a stop. Very family friendly and affordable fun and learning. The staff and volunteers are the most amazing people. Will definitely be back next visit.

-It's small. Very, very small. -It is put together like a child's history project- lots and lots of information sporadically plastered to the walls. Good information for sure, just put together kind of haphazardly. -There were lots of interesting pieces and artifacts but there was an overwhelming amount of information presented, it was super hard to digest any of it. -I wouldn't say it's a must stop for the area. We don't regret that we went but we also weren't super impressed by any means.

A small museum with a lot of information on Destin's history as a fishing village! We loved it here. The staffs were super welcoming and helpful.Cost is $5 per adult, and there is a discount for veterans. Cost is less for children. Parking spaces are available outside the museum.

It didn't have anything worth looking, just pictures of their family, very small, dingy, & cluttered. The staff was nice to everyone around us but never looked or talked to us, I'm guessing because we were the only not white and assumed we didn't know English although I said hi. Not worth the entry fee.

This place is short but sweet. Not huge but full of interesting local information. Never knew Jaws 2 was filmed here till I saw the information here. Not a bad spot to stop if interested in some local history or are into fishing. The first post office they have on site was pretty cool .
