My experience with Avis was frustrating from start to finish. I reserved a specific vehicle class well in advance, only to be given a completely different car without explanation or apology. Customer service was dismissive and unhelpful, and the lack of communication made the entire process stressful. I tried to resolve the issue directly but was met with vague responses and zero accountability. I won’t be renting from Avis again and would recommend others look elsewhere if they value reliability and transparency. I wish i had received this information before i rented with them but I was not lucky enough to be steered away.

Dean was rude and unprofessional. I reserved a Ford Edge or similar car, and I was given a much bigger bronco. When I asked for an Edge that I saw in his lot, he aggressively said he had some parked but they weren't cleaned and we would have to go to the airport if we wanted another car. When I got to the Bronco, I found out it was dirty, with dirt on the floor and crumbs all over the center console. Also, his wife butts in when no one is talking to her. Zero stars.

Did not allow me to get my vehicle that I reserved a month in advance!! The system would not allow me to make the deposit on the car at the place. But took money out of my account for the rental fee. Horrible customer service. The guys respond to the card not going thru was (I don’t know what to tell you). I ask for a manager and he refused to go get him and threaten to call the Cops if I didn’t get out of line. I will never go to this business again. Very Possible I have to get a lawyer to get my money back. Worse experience of my life.

Is zero stars an option? We made a reservation two weeks before our pickup date. We planned to use the rental as a backup while our car was in for service. When we arrived we were told that no vehicles of any kind were available. No alternatives or backup options were offered, except to call a different rental company. Surreal.

UPDATE: I called this morning to ask if any cars were available, since the employee at the front desk told me cars were coming up from Orlando last night. No cars are coming or available. When I asked if the cars would be available by Tuesday (4 days after pickup date), I was told that there would still not be any available by then. Employee also states that they had overbooked 25 people yesterday and 8 more today. This branch manager and their employees are inept and rude. Basic customer service skills from the desk agent were nonexistent. But this whole issue was caused by poor planning and exacerbated by zero communication with the customer. I am surprised that a branch that directly services UF alumni, families, and business partners could be so terrible.

I was notified 90 MINUTES before pickup that no vehicles were available for my confirmed 4-day reservation made a month ago for a business trip. When I asked for some kind of written proof of being refused a vehicle to be able to show to my employer, the person I spoke to rudely told me it was between me and my employer, and that they would not be providing any kind of proof. Great customer service, Avis! Good job!

The owner was so helpful, I can't even begin to say Thank You enough. He worked with us to get us on the road in an unprecedented emergency, and he was so nice and understanding about our situation. We are so incredibly grateful.

Please don’t choose this location if you’re using any sort of discount codes. This elderly gentleman is very rude and will cancel/refuse your reservation as he wants you to pay full price.
Best to choose alternative avis locations in the city

We rented last year and Dean was so helpful. He really cared to make certain we had the best experience. Our rental from a different agent had to be switched out, and he provided a top notch replacement. Dean made our vacation and reaffirmed that Avis is the best.

The man helping at the counter had a bad attitude and energy. He was annoyed that people make reservations at the end of the day the day before since they won’t know if they have any cars the next morning. This issue is something that has to be dealt with your company and Expedia. The customer should not be able to reserve a car if you know you won’t have any cars available. The customer cannot plan when they are going to need a car, sometimes emergencies happen and we need a car at the last minute.Also the man helping at the counter said this was the worse job he ever had. He seemed angry and was unprofessional and disrespectful. He obviously should not be working there. I def won’t be going back there or recommend anyone to use this location.

Corporate will respond to this with the “we’re so sorry [insert name here], you were never meant to have a terrible experience…” a terrible experience couldn’t begin to describe my time with Avis. If North Korea was to try and design a rental car company as a way to weasel a spy into the US, it’d be Avis. I won’t get into the gritty (and identifiable) details but they run business in the most uncertain and discomforting way I’ve seen in a while.
