1 year ago our Dachshund Maddy suffered a slipped disc and temporarily lost use of back legs, he was on complete bed rest for 2 months, we were not sure if his injury would be permenant. When a dog gets this type of injury the window for surgery is less than 24 hours...we didn't have the $6k for tests and surgery, so we did the immobilization thing and confined him to his bed for 8 weeks and looked into alternative therapy, praying Maddy wouldn't need a doggy wheelchair.

It didn’t work for me, so I wouldn’t put an animal thru it. They wouldn’t understand it.

One of my rescue dogs had had terrible skin issues for several years. We had been round and round on antibiotics which would sometimes relieve the issues but the problems always returned. One of my primary vets recommended Dr. Lord and she completely turned my sweet girl around. It was incredible. Can't recommend her enough! She also has a wonderful, very responsive staff!

Dr. Lord has cared for our dogs since we arrived on the Peninsula in 2003. She has been WONDERFUL - knowledgeable, compassionate - and providing humane alternatives for the range of issues that our dogs have faced, making sure we can provide the best care when they are ill or injured, and helping us make the best decisions for them when (sadly) they reach the end. And her team is the best!

We have been seeing Dr. Lord for a couple months after finding out our dog Otis (10yrs old) tore his ACL. She is amazing! We saw a regular vet in Chester and all he wanted to do was surgery for $4000!! Dr. Lord gave us several options, none of which consisted of drugging him or surgery. Since then, Otis has had several seizures and there is a possibility of a brain mass. Dr. Lord and her staff are always willing to email me or talk to me about my concerns. They take so much time with each patient during appointments and are so thorough, giving many options for treatment, but they have been very realistic on what the prognosis looks like. I am so thankful we found Dr. Lord. She is a 30 minute drive for us, but it's well worth the drive! Thank you for taking such good care of Otis!
