Impressive craftsmanship and a great team! We had the chance to tour one of their homes during the Wimberley Tour of Homes and were genuinely impressed. Everyone we spoke with was knowledgeable and clearly passionate about what they do.

Hartley Bros were the best builder we have used thus far. We have built 3 houses in Alachua and they were the most professional and the easiest to work with. Ross and Andrew always answered my calls or called me back the same day. Would definitely use again.

I had an exceptional experience with Hartley Brothers during the construction of my custom home. From start to finish, their team was professional, attentive, and dedicated to bringing my vision to life. They communicated clearly at every stage, ensuring all my questions were answered and my preferences were incorporated. The craftsmanship is outstanding. They stayed on schedule and within budget, which I greatly appreciated. I’m thrilled with my beautiful, high-quality home and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and skilled builder!

DO NOT build with Hartley Brothers. As a real estate professional, I’ve seen bad builders, but this was the worst experience of my life. They made empty promises, provided abysmal customer service, and left our high-end home unfinished, riddled with mistakes, and filthy. Even two years later, my animals are still finding rusty nails and debris on our property. Despite their “one-year warranty,” they refused to fix their mistakes. Ross Hartley stopped responding entirely.
The construction issues were catastrophic. Within weeks, our septic system backed up into our faucets. Mold grew on the exterior because they never sealed the paint. They left gaps in the flooring where water can intrude, and the grout in our shower was so uneven that water pools in the corners. They never even finished the grout on our kitchen backsplash.
The very first wall in our foyer is completely crooked. Large, noticeable seams run through the plaster and drywall. Every single corner has visible drywall tape. They didn’t even remove electrical covers before plastering, leaving everything uneven. The beam in our living room ceiling is crooked, with splotchy, unfinished plasterwork.
Financially, they left us devastated. They failed to allocate enough loan funds for power installation and then forced us to pay over $9,000 out of pocket. Worse, they held our Certificate of Occupancy hostage for three weeks until we paid for THEIR mistake—leaving us homeless, draining our savings on storage and temporary housing.
I referred a friend before I knew better—her home has an infestation of bats due to construction defects. Employees quit constantly due to mistreatment, including lack of maternity leave and verbal abuse from ownership. And at the center of it all? Ross Hartley—our “construction manager”—who will take your money and run.
Building a home should be exciting. Hartley Brothers made it a nightmare. We spent thousands more fixing their mistakes. Save yourself the stress, financial loss, and heartbreak—find another builder.
See my photos—this is how they left my house.

This company absolutely doesn't know how to drive on the highway I was just on the way to alachua and one of their trucks was hauling a trailer and they were behind me on my bumper basically riding my bumper then passed me almost didn't give themselves enough space to get in front of me and almost hit me with their trailer these people need to learn how to drive.

These guys are ***AWESOME*** to work with, and I didn't put the word "awesome" in all caps & put asterisks around it for no reason. We just recently bought our very first home, and these guys were the ones who headed up the construction. Steve and Robert are both very friendly, knowledgeable, and caring in our experience. They worked with us in so many ways in allowing us to pick out certain things for the house (light fixtures, what color the house is, carpeting, laminate flooring, and even more). They worked with us even in spite of having a pressing deadline to meet for the local parade of homes for the house, and they were very friendly, professional, and pleasant to deal with the entire time and even to this day after the sale of the home and after we've moved in and even found a few minor things that needed some fixing. We even had to change a couple of things last minute because some items were simply not being manufactured anymore and they were still very polite in handling all of this. They also did many things out of the ordinary and in addition to what we expected of them including, but not limited to, putting up some extra fence and a gutter at no additional charge to us, and also putting together an extensive manual with embossed floor plans of the house itself, the certificate of occupancy, measurements of the property, and manuals and instructions for how to take care of the home and appliances. This manual is especially nice to have as a first time home buyer! All I can say is these guys go above and beyond and give it 110% and are very pleasant to work with. They are honest, fair, professional, and very compassionate about what they do. They will tell you the strait scoop right from the start and they will not play games with you. As far as I'm concerned that's all you can ever want, need, and ask for from a business! I'd work with them again without a second thought for a future project. :)
