I had the best rental experience ever at this Hertz location on the morning of 9/25/25! After my train was super delayed, I had to rush to rent a car to make it to my destination in time. The young man who helped me went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. He cared about my situation and made me feel like a valued and appreciated customer. His kindness was authentic, and his service made a huge difference in my previously chaotic situation! I left there feeling elated to be in a great car and finally headed to where I needed to be. It totally turned my day around, and I would definitely rent from Hertz again đ

Hertz is by far the worst rental car company out there. What kind of business rents cars they don't even have on their lot? Especially wks in advance???? Idiots in my book!!! For ing renter to blindly look elsewhere at last minute rates and timing??? If I could've, I would've given you NO â s!!! I will never rent from you again and will not be recommending you to anyone else on this planet!!! I'm your own mgrs words, Sorry ma'am, have a nice day!!!

I was completely new to doing car rentals, the employees at this location were so kind and understanding when answering my 5 billion questions. The costumer service alone was worth 5 stars!

Wish I could rate 2.5 stars but I'll round up.
The car was nice, got me through the period of time I needed it and was quite snazzy (new Nissan Altima). No issues there, and initially the staff were sufficiently helpful, especially the guy who called me to let me know I left my garage door opener in the car after I returned it. (You're a real one)
Unfortunately, I also left the dashboard mount for my phone in there too. I fully admit to it being MY FAULT, NOT THEIR'S. That being said, they left me on hold for 30 minutes when I called about it and forgot I was on the line, and when I tried a second time, they told me that they throw out any dashboard mounts. I thought maybe they'd keep it in their lost and found, but no, specifically dashboard mounts are things they immediately dispose of.
Overall, it's a fine service if you're not a clueless idiot like I am that forgets 50 things per day, just beware about anything you leave in there

Genuinely the best experience in a car rental companyâŚ. Even in comparison to other locations of the same brand⌠Hertz on Main St is THE BEST!!!
I had a car rental 2 years ago, and now Iâm in one⌠and itâs just consistently incredible service.
The team truly tries their best to help in all manners, and it shows they genuinely care.
I love you guys.

I was dealing with a crisis, my car broke down in the middle of no where on the 301, I had to get towed and needed to get my family home, I walked into Hertz of Gainesville.. I was desperate and had no reservation. I dealt with Zaire and he was amazing. Took great care of me. I wish I could give him 10 stars!

Avoid this location at all costs. The staff is completely incompetent and lacks basic knowledge of the rental and payment process. For example it took 45 minutes to get our rental even though we had a reservation due to the fact the employee was lazy so it caused our reservation to be made incorrectly. You will receive conflicting and inaccurate information from multiple employees. Specifically, youâll be told that the deposit and rental charge are processed as two separate transactions â this is false. In reality, once the deposit is charged, the full rental amount is also held, which they fail to disclose properly. Save yourself the frustration and go to Enterprise instead, where the staff is actually trained and the process is transparent. If I could give this location zero stars, I would. Plus they will give you a lame excuse or apology on your review.

Cecil was extremely helpful in assisting us in getting our rental vehicle days earlier than originally booked, hassle free! This included allowing us to look at vehicle options to accommodate our trip needs which was most appreciated.

Easy to book and return, great selection, had what I needed. No surprise fees, helpful staff. The only downside we had, the parking lot is pretty small, so got a little congested when we tried leaving. Would use again.

I got sent to this janky place because of bmw not having anymore loners and I thought to myself well itâsâhertzâ it wont be that bad. It was Horrible they couldnât give me anything equivalent to what I drive.
The rental I received was dirty inside and out. It smelled horrible! I watch them loan the same car out I returned in less than 10mins âsmhâ.
The staff was obnoxious making random comments and cursing. Upon returning the vehicle I wasnât even offered a ride less than a mile down the street to the dealership. This 1 star was well earned.
If your dealership sends you politely decline!

Do not try and hire a Tesla from this location. They do not stock them and will instead give you a featureless gas sedan, and will charge you the same price for an awful car.

If 0 stars were an option I would rate this business just that. Hertz rental car on main street in Gainesville, FL is the worst area business in North Central Florida. Horrible people, and completely incompetent customer service. Do not spend your money with them or any other Hertz location.

If 0 was an option. Booked a cargo van 3 months ahead of time. On Saturday they said they called to cancel it because they didnât have it. That was a lie. Do you think they helped try and offer anything else? No. Look at another location? No. Cancel the booking? No. Worst experience EVER. Really put a damper on the trip we are taking and ended up costing me a lot more to get something else LAST minute somewhere else. The location is actual garbage. And the manager and district manager should be ashamed. But based on the reviews, I imagine thatâs not the case.
