When Hurricane Milton was coming right at us we evacuated to Gainesville FL. I called numerous hotels and since many travellers were also evacuating it was difficult. I ended up with Booking.com who said there was room at this Inn. I specifically asked whether pets were permitted and they confirmed prior to making the reservation. I was quoted $143.84 and received a confirmation. When we arrived, the man at the desk at first said he did not see reservation, but I provided evidence of my booking. I had my dog with me when I checked in. He took my credit card. The next morning he advised us that breakfast was not included in the rate. When I received my credit card bill the charge was $229.51. I called the inn to complain and was first asked to send my confirmation, which I did. No response. Called back, no joy, called back and asked for a manager- they stated there was no manager on site, called back, at which point I was asked if I had a pet with me. I said I did, and she said there was a $75 pet deposit (which they apparently also charge tax on ). I was never told at any point there was a pet deposit and was told it was on their website. I said I never saw their website as this was an emergency evacuation and that booking.com had confirmed pets were allowed and no mention of a pet deposit when I checked in and showed my confirmation. Further, Governor DeSantis had asked hotels to 1) allow pets, and 2) waive fees for pets during the evacuation as many people had pets and he did not want to risk them staying in place. I then asked for managers name and email. Was given Chelsea Stevens and sent her a long email with copies of my confirmation. No response whatsoever, called back and asked for Chelsea- they said she was not on site. Very bad communications and public relations. Will never stay there again.
Noteworthy details: Very bad PR, failure to disclose pet deposit and failure to consider Governor DeSantis request to waive pet deposits in light of massive evacuation from Hurricane Milton

Very comfortable place to stay. The lobby was large with lots of great furniture. It was a nice place to hang out. Waiting for everyone to be ready.
My only disappointment was the 6:00 alarm was left on in the room from the people who stayed in the room previously. It was very unwelcome Saturday morning.

TERRIBLE for parking. After complaining to mgt. That 2 trucks parked sideways taking up 10 parking spaces with already limited parking,
I was told I could park in the hotel parking lot next door which was full also. They have a price on EVERYTHING. The holiday inn express 1/2 a block away puts this place to shame.I travel weekly and stay in many hotels and suggest highly of finding a different location to stay. I will never make reservations here again.
Food and drinks: NO free breakfast or water in rooms. They're trying to run a restaurant at elevated prices. Eat elsewhere.

Pretty medium hotel - it was clean enough and beds were comfortable but the shower dripped the entire time and the breakfast was pretty sub standard - hotel just seemed a bit dated - customer service was fine so no complaints there! We also couldn't get our thermostat to work for some reason so the room got a bit warm at night.

The ambient lighting in the room was awful, the bed felt like sleeping on wood. The staff was very friendly, but we'll opt for a different hotel if we're ever in Gainesville again.
Rooms: Barren, ambient lighting was horrendous, and the bed was like a rock. It was quiet enough and clean.

Decent stay in Gainesville. About 15 minutes from the University but close to restaurants and shopping. Rooms are spacious. Comfortable and standard. Building is small so you may hear stomping above. Breakfast was terrible. Skip it and eat elsewhere. But tjoanhotel was good and served it's purpose.

Renovations finished in March 2024. The result is new paint, carpet, lighting, and other decor on top of existing furniture for instance the coffee table, end table, desk, and bed frame.
The hotel is clean and conveniently located within walking distance of grocery stores, several restaurants, and retail shopping centers.
No gripes.
Pool, fitness center, and spacious dining room.

We got a 3 room suite. 1 king, other room 2 queens? Fulls? Middle area, hide a bed sofa. Tvs in each area. Mini kitchen. Full-size fridge. Was feeling the kitchen set up, BTW. Fine. A family visit. Ok.
Floor looked clean. But barefoot walking shows slightly grungy carpet or kitchen.
The kind of weird thing was how the restroom area was set up. The commode and shower was in an area where you could close the door. But if you wanted to brush your teeth or examine your personal hygiene in a reflective surface, you had no privacy.
So the sink and mirror area was open to the whole room. So if my room mate needs to brush his teeth, wash his hands pop his zits or whatever, I hope I can I sleep through it - no door. Can they brush with the light off? Can they pop pimples in the shower? Ok sure. But in the toilet tub area there's no counter or end table. Any way it's set up awkwardly.
If you're sleeping in a room where privacy is not an issue . It's still weird and a little disruptive.
One of the bedroom doors did not close properly.
Pool was nice. Workout room had some free weights and a couple of bikes and a couple of treadmills. Fine, really, for getting a nice pump.
Had the continental breakfast everyday. Nice spread with options for your dietary needs. We added an extra day. Overall a nice stay.

Food is not the best. But everyone is so nice.
