I was referred to a stylist named Todd in the JCPenney salon from my neighbor. I am a Master Stylist for 40 years with super curly hair. It's very hard to find someone that can long layer really curly hair. Todd did an amazing job and I am super thrilled to find an excellent stylist in Gainesville since I am new to the area. Thank You Todd!!!

Unfortunately I put my trust in Jen to do my hair color. I showed her many photos of what I wanted. I wanted an ombré with darkish ash blonde tones. Instead I am left with fried brittle orange and white blonde uneven hair. She said my hair would not be damaged if she did a deep conditioning treatment so I went ahead and did the second lighting treatment. I am so disappointed that a hair professional would put me through this. I don't understand if you are not able to do what the client wanted, then why do it?! Now I am stuck with this hair until months I can fix it. My hair is already short so I can't clip it off. So now I called the manager and am waiting for a call back. The point is, if you can't give the client want they are looking for then be honest...my hair is not just a bad color but it is completely damaged. I am so disappointed in this salon. Never again will I be returning here, and hopefully no other client will have to go through this.

I wasn't really sure what I wanted done with my hair, Brandy was really helpful in me making my choice, I decided to go with highlights and I love it! She did an awesome job! She also gave my daughter a trim and was very patient with her. I am really happy with our experience and I will be calling for future appointments

Growing up with JCPenny has been a wonderful life experience for me. Most brick and mortar operations are losing the customer battle to the internet and online shopping. I enjoyed walking around one of the last department store chains able to touch a product before buying. In some cases that is a big plus. They continue to have great prices and special discounts. The store was clean, well organized and with friendly sales personnel.

This is a very busy hair salon with good reason. Once you find the right hair stylist you never want to leave them. Plus you get reward points every time you get your hair done here.

Now that Gainesville has a Whole Foods, we can finally address the next most pressing first world problem: the lack of blow dry bars. TLDR: this salon is not the solution. The first time I tried to stop by, I was lured in by the "walk-ins welcome" sign posted outside, however I was told they were fully booked when I did walk in. I made an appointment a few weeks later since their location is pretty convenient and I needed a quick blow out. I came in drenched after a classic Florida rainstorm with my raincoat and umbrella, but was nevertheless led directly back to a sink to sit and get my hair washed. When I asked the stylist where I could put my coat, she pointed me toward her station and waited for me to come back. During said shampoo (with what smelled like a cheap product despite the ubiquitous Redken bottles) she had to keep pausing and holding my hair up because the sink was clogging and wouldn't drain. She seemed generally polite and commented that she thought they "fixed it yesterday", but between the pauses to drain the sink, she hastily and aggressively shampooed my hair, which didn't really help the situation. My hair turned out a bit frizzy after the blow dry and it seems their usual practice is to flat iron it instead of blow drying it straight, which seemed a little odd. She worked on my hair mostly in silence, but it turned out fine. Generally speaking, one could compare this salon to one-ply toilet paper-- the primary function is to be inexpensive, it works in a pinch, but you wouldn't choose it if you had a better option. The shampoo, blowout and flat iron was $32. Could have been better, could have been worse. I probably won't be back... but you never know if you're going to run out of toilet paper.

The absolute worst salon experience of my life. I called and confirmed my appointment three times prior to going to my appointment at 8:00pm. It turns out when I arrived (on time) the hair stylist was still working on another client. A few minutes later she calls me over, lets me sit in the chair, and proceeds to tell me that she does not have time to do my hair because she has to leave at 8:30pm, even though the salon closes at 9:00pm. She then tells me that she would start working on my hair even though she would not be able to finish, meaning that she would let a client leave the salon with half curly hair and half straight hair. The offer was appalling and I left. I came back into the salon because I wanted to inquire what time they would open in the morning since my hair appointment was for a special occasion (graduation), only to find the stylist gossiping about me to another employee. While the receptionist(s) that I spoke with on the phone to confirm the appointments seemed nice, the hairstylist was so unprofessional to the point where I would not dare step foot into that salon again. If I could give this business zero stars, I would. Save your money and go somewhere else.
