Just wanted to leave a genuine review about the pool so folks out there undersrand why there aren't ever any morning lifeguards besides the supervisor working 6-7 days a week. And because i met some awesome folks out at this pool. Whats not awesome is that the pool supervisor has set the standard and made it clear shes not only okay sacrificing her own well being by not ever taking breaks but then expects her guards (whom are all 24 years old and younger) to be just as willing to work 10 hour shifts in the elements with little to no breaks off the stand. LIFEGUARDS ARE SUPPOSE TO ROTATE OFTEN TO STAY ALERT. (It's stated pretty clearly in all the training that is done to certify guards.)---->So before you make assumptions on no one wanting to guard or why there's a lack thereof. The problem is that no one is willing to guard for 10 hours straight and have no breaks except for the problem itself. The one running the pool. (You can ask anyone and no one will ever say its okay to sacrifice yourself for $12 hour???<----

I went for a couple of visits with my wife to start. She uses the pol as part of her rehab after a big spinal surgery....The staff were all very accommodating and friendly. The facilities are clean, and the pool is really nice.....although as several other have said, it could use resurfacing....I haven't used the weight and machine area yet, but will in the future, which is why I gave 4 stars...its a pretty good value for your bucks.

2019: It's not a safe place! As a homeless college student with with no criminal history, worked in legal prior, that had lost 5 acres of land. ... I was using the gym as a means to stay clean while going to school. However one morning at 5:30am. A woman reached in the shower and tried to pull me out yelling: there's a homeless person in the show, and then proceeded to call the police. I freaked out and left being told by the YMCA let us handle it. ... But it happened again at the same time the next morning. And because I raised hell they band me.The woman that did this to me was Jen or Jennifer; white, 40-50 years, heavyset, glasses, red SUV. A true monsterStaff just coved it up.I still have a voice

I live in Lake City and checked the website site before I left to make sure the pool was open only to drive 50 miles to find a note on the door saying pool closed. I will be canceling my membership and looking for a more reliable alternative

In serious need of renovations. Reminds me of a 1990's middle school. As for the price of one adult you have to pay $52 a month with a $60 sign up cost (too costly for what you get). Might as well go to Gainesville Health and Fitness for $60 a month and they have everything you need in a gym setting.

The North Central Florida Y is a wonderful place for the entire family. The staff is committed to making the Y safe for everyone. The Teen Center is conveniently located, has easy pick up and drop off, and offers a wide variety of activities. Mr. Rollins and his team have created a positive, creative and engaged community of teens that support each other with sincerity and kindness. The Executive Director, Mrs. Howard, understands the challenges facing our community from violence, literacy, and lack of resources in rural areas of the county. She actively finds solutions and treats everyone with respect. I would highly recommend the Y for all ages.

Large gym and usually nearly empty. They have a large heated pool and there's always free lanes to swim. Some of their equipment is older but still very functional.

I was a member of the Gainesville YMCA for some time, but cancelled due to Covid-19. I was told recently that my supposed cancellation was, in fact, a temporary suspension. Recently, after months, my credit card was billed for a new subscription when I did not authorize such. After heated conversation, the Y CEO refused to reimburse. This is a sad testament to how hard up for money they must be. Until now, I had respected what the Y was doing, but I want nothing ever to do with them again. Besides this issue, the pool is closed a lot and the exercise equipment is of the hand-me-down vintage and broken a lot. They have had bankruptcy issues in the recent past and change CEO's often. It is not a well run organization. I will never use their services ever again.

For families and people who enjoy the gym experience , it is fine but none of your choices can compare with the GHFC

North Central Florida YMCA has amazing aquatic programs. My granddaughter especially likes swim lessons with Ms. Lesley. The swim classes are with lifeguards and lifeguards are on-duty. Every safety measure is taken ... including temps when we enter the door. Thank you for teaching Wren to swim, giving her confidence in herself and for the terrific lessons and fun times in the pool. Luv p
