I've been looking for a 4-legged friend for a couple of months. This facility is friendly and clean.
Not many dogs on the premises due to Hurricane Milton. Check out the website first. Good luck !

Lovely, caring & informative staff. They work to reunite lost pets with owners & find adoptive families for strays, provide free pet food for under-resourced pet parents & offer donated pet supplies free to people in need. They partner with cat rescues & feral cat trappers, & post lost & found pet photos on their website. Please see their posted wish list & donate.

I took in a stray cat my mom was feeding. I called first to make sure it wasn’t going to be euthanized. The next day her 5 week old kitten showed up and I called and took it in. The next day I called to see how the kitten was doing and they had euthanized it because it was anemic and had fleas. That’s totally treatable. 2 weeks later mom’s cat was returned and I thought great, no more kittens, but a month later she was pregnant again. Don’t trust these people.

We looked at shelters from Hillsborough, Polk, and Pinellas, looking for the right dog that we wanted to bring home and adopt. We were very interested in a sweet looking dog named Lottie at this shelter. We spoke with staff on the phone that told us we would be able to do a meet and greet with our dog that we have now even if we were running a bit late as we were coming from Plant City. When we arrived, everything was very disorganized and laid back. We were told we could grab a leash and let the dog out. Trying to find a place to do the meet and greet since we weren’t given any direction, my wife drove to the back of the building and a rude staff member told us we could not be in parking behind the building, and that to do a meet and greet we would have to bring the dog back to her kennel and get with a staff member up front. As I got to the front, the older woman working was EXTREMELY RUDE. Told me that they needed to close up and that nobody could help us and that they don’t do meet and greets that late, despite what a wonderful woman on the phone told us an hour and a half before we got there. Broke my heart because Lottie was the sweetest dog, but we had to leave. To anyone reading this who can look past the disorganization and mostly rude staff, please adopt Lottie. She deserves far better than that place. To the staff: how can you say you want to find these dogs homes if you won’t work with the people who are adopting them, won’t give clear directions on something, and just won’t be a kind person.

Amazing people that work here! We recently adopted our dog Maple and will always recommend. They offer a foster to adopt program to see if the animal you’re wanting is a good fit not only for you, but the animal as well. They have so many services and will help with the transition. Thank you Animal Services for the support and care. Please adopt and don’t shop! ❤️

I adopted Brooklyn from this wonderful place on 7/25/24 she is such a sweetheart. I visited on 7/24/24 and fell in love with her. While i was there everyone was wonderful all the kennels were getting cleaned and I could tell how well they took care of these dogs. I saw a post on fb not too long after my Pug Brooklyn passed and I said this is a sign and I have to meet this sweetheart. And I'm so glad I did she is incredible. Thank you so much for taking such great care of these babies. You guys are WONDERFUL!!!!
