Ran out of shrimp on the water and called around and nobody had any hand picks left. Called honest Johns and the gentleman that helped me said they had shrimp. At this point it’s 5:35 (they close at 6) and I’m a good 20 minute boat ride away. Told him that and he said he’ll see me soon. Got to the dock out back and he was waiting for me, ended up with 5 dozen hand picks for 20 bucks. Great customer service and great prices and it led to a great night fishing!

Family vacationed here for July 4th. Great place to store our boat and trailer while staying a short distance down the road in Floridana Beach,FL.Jonathan very friendly and courteous. Provided directions and recommendations for fishing and boating in the area, and allowed the entire family to come over and board another boat for a day trip to the nearby islands.Great time! Thank you!

Honest John isn’t very honest! It could have said on the website that they were not open to the public and only catered to their storage customers which would have saved us a trip from Cocoa! Not COOL!

Awesome area, staff super friendly and helpful. Will visit again. Need separate kayak launch from boat area, for safer launching of kayak.

Me and my boy rented a 14’ for half a day, and really should’ve done a full day. A lot of area to cover, and some really really good fishing spots! It was amazing to encounter dolphins while fishing, it swam right up a canal we were fishing, and right by us. Everything was quick and painless, I would recommend a full day rental to get your moneys worth.

My most recent visits found that they no longer rent small motor boats which was a big draw for me. This from my perspective a lower rating. Still can get canoes and kayaks. They also installed a new electric gate so you must obtain a code to enter. A little of the old time free spirited Florida fish camp vibe has diminished.

It's a great place to relax and take your boat out. The family who own the fish camp is very knowledgeable about the area.

Amazing place. So glad they keep it natural and so beautiful. Great boat ramp and easy access.

Not many places like this left in Florida. This is an old time fish camp where you can rent a boat and journey through the mangroves catching a wide variety of fish. Or just paddle around and see ospreys, herons, dolphin and manatees. They have live shrimp for sale and other sundries. If you need an upscale sanitized facility don’t go here. This is a “back to nature” experience complete with chickens and a big hog wandering around at times!

Drove a someone back there who may be moving to the area and will need a place to store an RV. Some nut on a side by side cut me off and wanted to know what I was doing there. I told him I was showing a someone the place in case they want to store their RV. He then told us to leave. This was during normal business hours. Not sure of the guy was drunk or what, but I do know I will never refer anyone else to do business with them.

We've been going to Honest John's for YEARS, and just recently we were turned away. They no longer allow public boat ramp access... only for people who store their boats there which REALLY SUCKS. We are honestly very upset about this because we wanted to have our son grow up with the same experiences we've had there. The fishing has always been amazing and it's a low key place...never too busy. We will miss it.

The man who works there must have had a very bad week he was extremely rude to me and my girlfriend, he made me change parking spots 3 times even though no one was even there…after we got back to the camp he then proceeded to tell me and my girlfriend to never come back for absolutely no reason, I then proceeded to ask why and he refused to tell me and refused to tell me his name and the owners name, he needs to work on his people skills. Anyone know the owners names and number I would greatly appreciate it

I am only reviewing lower as Honest John's has the end of the state park trail fenced off with no access. There is nothing posted about this or any real reason why this would be the case. We had to hike back about 2 miles after coming to a barbed wire fence saying no trespassing. When I called them about it the staff guy was fairly nonplussed and offered zero help other then to go back.

This is the best spot on earth! The family that owns the camp always makes you feel like part of the family. Always a warm welcoming. Great place to chill and have a beer (or two) and be enchanted by the serene surroundings.

If I ran a business, I would want it to be exactly like this place -- no stress, or pretention. The people are friendly and seem genuinely concerned that you'll have a good time. The kayaks are a lot of fun and there are a variety of places and settings to explore. Just beware of the aggressively friendly dog; he's liable to lay down on your feet and not let you pass until you pet him.
