When picking up our car we were told at the desk that when we return the car we can either tank the car ourselves or use the gas service. We were told that only if we return the car not fully tanked Avis will tank the car and charge us. Eventually we decided to fill up the car ourselves so we returned the car with a full tank. Now when we received the receipt to our surprise we were charged for the gas service even if the tank was full! This is totally unacceptable

Would never rent a car from them. Very rude, and impatient. Even prepaid online but after waiting for almost 2 hours with no one helping we decided to rent from budget instead, much better choice

They didn't have the car I PAID IN FULL FOR weeks beforehand. And yes, I understand my flight got canceled, but I called the 1800 number several times, and spoke to several people and I was assured that I would have a car when my flight landed. I ubered here and NO CAR!!! I was told to call customer service and they told me to go somewhere else. THEY DIDN'T HAVE CARS. So my 8 a.m. pick up turned into a 2p.m. pick up after 2 ubers later. I am still waiting for my refund for my second uber ride I should not have had to take. That man running the desk at this hotel was horrible, it was like it was his first day and they didn't train him at all.

I hired 3 separate vehicles across a 10 day vacation. Each and every single one has charged me additionally after returning the vehicles. Drop off agents tell you everything is fine and there's no charge when you ask them and state you'll receive an email receipt which gives little to no explanation about what any charges are on them.3 separate charges to my credit card later and I have complained to AVIS directly to be told that the charges are valid. This company is a complete sham, I sat in one vehicle waiting for an agent to take the return from me for at least 30 mins now I've returned to the UK I discover that they charged me a full additional days rate for the return, as it was supposedly late. Charged for returning a car with the same 5/8's gas as I took it out at, and they charged me for refueling. Was promised a refund on this and 10 days later no refund.I paid an additional $37 to upgrade one vehicle to a Suburban so that my wife would have a step to get up into the SUV as the one they had originally offered didn't have this. As she has a health condition climbing into and out of an SUV without a step is very difficult. To be charged a late return fee and other charges of nearly $200 is utter madness.The charges on the receipts make little to no sense, when you ask for an explanation, they send you abbreviations like TOL, SGU & RSN like I'm some kind of expert and understand the lingo that they use. But that's beside the point when they tell you there are no extra charges when you return all 3 cars, and I ask for a receipt each time they state it will be emailed to me. Supposedly you have to be a preferred customer to get a printed receipt, its ridiculous you have to be a preferred member to get a receipt. I could have discussed this at the time, if anyone had informed me about any of these charges.The service is truly disgusting, the customer service is nonexistent, and contacting the Socialinfo email address is a complete waste of time, they do no investigation and just tell you that the charges are valid. I wanted to contact them directly first rather than write a complaint.I'm now taking this up with my credit card company to claim these fraudulent charges back. I will NEVER use AVIS again.I had used AVIS for the last 20 years. I will never go back to them again. Guess they would rather nickel and dime people for fraudulent charges than have a repeat customer.

Don’t rent a car, they have hidden charges that no one now. I pre paid my car for a week and now I have a charge of 385$ that now one can explain. And that didn’t tell me they were going to charge.

Landed in Miami Labour day weekend 2023. Clearly Avis was out if cars as the first car was only smelling if smoke and the second car was completely dirty. Appears that Avis didn't have enough time to turn the cars around and was trying to give cars that had not been cleaned after the previous rental. However we were lucky to meet one Mark Williams who made sure to find us a clean vehicle and got us a wireless tablet with our rental for the 2+ hour wait. But most importantly he remained calm, professional and very pleasant on this crazy day. If you are lucky to meet him he will take care of your concerns. I gave Avis 3 stars only because of Mr. Wiiams. He himself deserves 5 stars.

This people are the worst car rental.I rent an electrical car, they didn’t want to change the car, at the time I get there, the counter guy told me impossible but the parking lot was full of cars, after that they charge me for the full charge at the time to returned it, but when I picked it up was at 59%.Horrible service, do not go to Avis look other rent a car, customer service and attention to the client is CERO.Please I don’t need any answer from this company, so don’t waist time, at the end all your reviews are really bad which means that I am not the only one, complaining.Thank you.

Rude employees at the preferred check in both. I was given something lower grade than what I asked for and when I asked kindly to be upgraded. They were very rude to me and told me that I will get lower than what I have. They also mentioned that I would wed to pay for an upgrade daily fee even for the days I was not being upgraded. That’s crazy right ! Don’t rent their period.

Had an excellent experience with Marc Williams. He made sure we were satisfied with our vehicle and that everything worked properly before we left. Marc was very friendly and helpful.

Horrific customer service. Even if you get a cheaper rate here, pay the extra cash to go somewhere where employees are not straight up rude or dismissive. Booked a government reservation and when we arrived were told the person had to be 25 to rent- okay, no big deal, we tried to explain that a government reservation is exempt. They continued to stonewall us. When we asked to speak to a supervisor they refused stating they were “too busy to talk about the issue.” We just wanted to clarify what the issue was since we have never had this happen with other government reservations. When we asked if we could simply switch out names on the reservation, they told us to call the central reservation line and create an entirely new reservation- something we cannot do over the phone with a government reservation. They continued to be dismissive, straight up rude, and continued to refuse a supervisor. FINALLY someone reluctantly came out to inform us it was company policy- still completely unapologetic, offered no solution or advice and stood there staring at us. I have never been treated so rudely in my life. We will NEVER use AVIS to book government reservations again and this entire department should be under review.

DON’T WAIST YOUR TIME, YOU’LL BE FRUSTRATED WITH THE TEAM MEMBERS, SERVICE or LOCATION! It feels like 3rd-world country management. With outdated processing system. Wouldn’t take my Driver’s License because it wasn’t one of latest/newest DL, even though it’s legit. Not the customer’s problem. Any other Avis in the country would take my DL with no issues, except for this one. Good thing I didn’t have to catch a flight because I would have missed it. They just don’t care. NEVER AGAIN WITH AVIS at MARRIOTT next to MIA airport. The manager Jorge was not very helpful at all, not a very nice person. He just didn’t care to resolve their issues. NEVER AGAIN!

This AVIS does NOT exist anymore. So don't waste your time booking at this location or coming here.The sign is taken down and there is a bored gentleman on the sidewalk at the adjacent parking lot with no uniform, badge or other identifying signs but with a handwritten, cardboard sign -- see photo --, with the addresses of 3 other Avis/Budget, one of which I am expected to go instead for my rental. Noticeably, one of them is the location for the cruise ship terminal, arguably one of the busiest locations, and with the worst reviews, in Florida.It appears as though AVIS, or at least the licensee for this location, expected me to get a ride to another location despite having booked and prepaid for a car. Apparently this is an acceptable alternative, despite having received multiple confirmation emails from AVIS, the most recent one on the day before my rental to remind me of my booking -- and upsell prepaid tolls.In essence, AVIS failed to provide with the service they offer and sold me. Violating the most basic premise of commerce. AVIS: I don't mind that you didn't call me to cancel, but if you offer car rentals and take my money for it in advance, I expect you to deliver a rental car. If, forever reason, you cannot, then issue a refund immediately, no questions asked. An apology would also be nice. But no, you screwed up royally this time.Luckily, SIXT Car Rental is across the street. They had a variety of clean, new cars and got a comparable rate. despite the short notice.
