This tiny ice cream parlor is hard to miss with its jumbo 3-D cone above the entrance and a live salsa band out front on weekends. Cuban-American owner Suzy Batlle churns out homemade ice cream inspired by her abuela (grandmother). Most customers bypass plain vanilla for uniquely local Abuela Maria: vanilla ice cream studded with bits of guava paste and cream cheese with Maria cookies. Café con leche ice cream is infused with shots of infamously potent Cuban coffee plus hot fudge. Seasonal tropical flavors like sugarcane and pineapple, mamey, mango, and passion fruit are especially recommended, as are combinations such as sweet corn with cinnamon or olive oil, orange zest and dark chocolate. Unlimited samples are served with smiles before you commit.
