The website says you can open an account online. We live in Seattle and have a BB acccount in Brazil. However, after applying for an account 4 time and rejected 4 times without explanation, we were told the that BB Americas was unable to validate our information through their online validation system. We were told that we had to visit a branch in Florida to provide proof of U.S. Government Issued ID, Proof of Address, Tax Id # and Initial Deposit. First, the application asked for a state ID; second, the SS#s are tax IDs, third, the proof of residence is in every credit report, and, fourth, the initial deposit is easily made via ACH. This was a dubious and untransparent rejection by asking us to fly from Seattle to Miami to open an account. All ot this could be handled via Docusign, etc., or a Notary Public. Essentially, unless we were lied to, you cannot open an account online unless you also plan a trip to Miami or Orlando. So, it appears to be a false claim that once can open an account online. Will be changing banks in Brazil next trip.

Have had it for 8 years now. Only thing holding us there is the lack of similar transferences from Brasil to US. As a Brazilian as well I had hopes this would be good but these 8 years have been horrible in banking features. Passwords being cancelled and changed by itself (?), costumer service that keep transferring me from one side to the other, the security questions don't work either... It is always hard to use them and even cashing a check receives week long holds, which is clearly detrimental for anyone trying to move/use financial services. Won't get started on the wire transferences, card issuances, and other features. Just look for better options, they exist.

I strongly recommend you do not deposit any money with them. The branch does not have a phone number and their third party customer service simply forwards your request to the branch, WHICH NEVER RETURNS A CALL. I have been trying to get in touch with someone who can take care of an issue involving an account for 3 months. After many calls to their customer service that results in a promise that someone from the branch will call back, I have not received one call back. I am filing a formal grievance with the Federal Reserve. Please don't lock up your money with them. It seems Brazil's corruption issues have a far reach.

This is one of the worst banking experiences we've ever had. Customer service is slow to respond to e-mails, and when you call, they will use the old "our server is down" excuse and ask to call you later, which either they don't do, or do at the most inconvenient times. Want to do a wire transfer? You have to e-mail them, wait for a couple days for a wire transfer form, then another couple days for them to call you asking for confirmation. Recently we lost our card and called the bank immediately to have it canceled and a new one sent. (Important to note that debit cards provided by Banco do Brasil are not covered by Visa emergency card or cash.) They asked us for 7 to 10 business days. On the 10th day, having not received the card, we call again and learn that a new card was never sent. We ask for it to be expedited, and the customer service representative said that all she could do was "e-mailing" the branch. After another 3 very frustrating calls, we finally get to someone who is able to expedite the card and send it on Monday - we were calling on a Thursday. When we finally got our card, on the following Wednesday, we call the number they provide to activate the card - guess what, all phones are offline! We are calling that number for 8 hours straight and can't get through. Tried calling Visa, which then called the bank and was unable to get through as well. Sent them two emails and didn't get a response. Tried calling the number for credit cards to activate our card, and when it asks for the last digits of our SSN, CPF or foreign ID, none of them work, probably due to their lack of organization. I have no idea what number they have there. So here are we, 4 days to Christmas, unable to buy anything because this bank excels at being incompetent.
